Spyderco Ronin 2 Fixed Blade 18

Beautifully presented knife and razor sharp out of the box. I was initially thinking that I would attach the Ronin via paracord to my LBT 6094, I tried a horizontal and vertical fit but didn't feel comfortable with its minimal size (and high position when fitted vertically) so will order the Spyderco Jumpmaster for my LBT. I have found the Ronin 2 to be an outstanding EDC that can pass body search (hands only, not with a detector) when fitted as an IWB carry. The draw from a vertical fit can be awkward and slow (in both IWB and OWB, due to the height needed to clear the carrier) to clear clothing, but if carried as OWB and fitted horizontal on the front of your belt the Ronin 2 can be deployed at speed from various positions (driving etc) and while grappling (be careful, as mentioned, it's razor sharp). I have medium (glove size 10) size hands and find the handle length to be good when not wearing gloves, however when wearing Nomex flight gloves (my preferred glove) the handle feels too small so I will be attaching a short paracord lanyard to increase handle length. Overall, a great EDC and highly recommended. As always, great service from HH.

Spyderco only make one type of fixed blade, best in class cutters. They all feel good in the hand and index perfectly, they are an extension of your arm. Pair this with a serrated Spyderco and you could even cut through the current Brexit Bullsh1t. I just tested mine on a phonebook (an old thick one) and it cuts as well as my most expensive blades. Just be careful putting it away, the point is as sharp as the blade - another hole in my favourite thigh.

You get a lot for your money with spiderco knives. This model is no exception. It has good balance and arrived extremely sharp and ready for action. The sheath is nicely tight so you are unlikely to lose it. Having such a heavy blade I plan to use it more as a chopper to prepare wood for the fire but it would be just as good for preparing food if you need to. My only quibble would be the flat handle grips. I prefer a rounder grip rather than two flat pieces of macarta but it is still a superb tool to have by your side.
