Description

Spyderco’s collection of Value Folders, are named after admirable human characteristics. Their economical Persistence is smallest, the Tenacious is mid-sized, and the Resilience the largest. All three folders offer a high level of cutting performance, materials and construction for around the cost of a tank of gas.

The Spyderco Resilience has a full-flat ground 8Cr13MoV stainless blade with a tip-to-handle cutting edge. Jimping cross-hatches the spine offering a slip-proof seat for the thumb while grasping and cutting. Black G-10 handle scales house skeletonized steel liners, a Michael Walker LinerLock, screw together construction and phosphor bronze washers around the pivot for smooth and resistance- free action. Houseglass stainless pocket clip is four-way compatible for tip-up/tip-down, left/right-hand carry.

Feature-for-feature, performance-for-performance the Resilience adds one more must-have best buy to the Spyderco line-up.

    Resilience

Posted by Xavierdoc on 7th Aug 2025

I bought my first Resilience when it first came out, possibly more than 10years ago. At the time I owned multiple knives, many Spyderco: sprint runs and standard issue. I was also making knives and was totally "down the rabbit hole" of knife collecting/testing/reviewing. Exotic, high carbide, hyper-steels were the order of the day. I got the first Resilience as a beater to spare my exotic Militarys and other large folders. It surprised me. In fact this knife (and some fixed blade Stu Mitchells in SF100) gave me an epiphany; as a heavy knife user I had fallen for the exotic steel marketing spiel. I sold most of collection, keeping a few favourites or blades that fulfilled specific role (I live by the sea and dive/spear fish etc so H1/LC200N have a place.) The Resilience became my EDC, hacking brambles on daily dog walks, gralloching/ butchering deer, camping, etc. It survived a point first landing on tiled floor (broken the tile) and total neglect on the cleaning front. It's got a stable edge that doesn't microchip and is easy to sharpen (20dps). The pivot needs occasional adjustment (takes seconds) to keep blade centered. After 10years, the lock travel was looking a bit much. Still secure but I ordered a successor in case it was discontinued and then a third in lightweight FRN guise (I keep this at 15dps and it's been fine for heavy tasks.) That first knife cost around £45 and it's still going strong. Its newer stablemates are over £80 but represent extraordinarily good value. I still have a Mili, Para 2 K390 and Police K390 but the Resiliences are my go to big folders. Occasionally I'll take a Rajah or Espada XL if I know I've got a bigger job but want the discretion of a folder but the Resolience is the sweet spot for me. Happily all three of mine have had no quality control issues that reviewer Chris encountered.

    Decent quality and great design

This is my second review of this knife, I received this from heinnie as a replacement for my last resilience that had serious quality control issues. I have to say this one is much better. The action is nice and smooth, the blade deploys straight and sits central when closed. It's razor sharp with a nice satin finish. I persisted with this knife as I love the design and size, but there are much better deals out there for the price. Anyway. Glad I got the replacement and the quality on his one is much better, not as good as a Colorado Spyderco but it's half the price so it's to be expected. Overall though I'm happy and planning to get the lightweight resilience too.

    Poor quality

Posted by Chris on 20th Mar 2025

I own over a dozen Spyderco knives. This is my first Chinese made Spyderco and it will be my last Firstly the blade deploys crooked and slightly leans to the right. Secondly the action is very stiff and not smooth like my other Spydercos. I tried adjusting the pivot to make the action smoother but this just made the blade even more crooked. I even disassembled the knife and put it back together but this didn't solve the issue. Big disappointment. I will never buy another Chinese Spyderco and definitely wouldn't recommend this knife to any of my friends.
