The soul of the Spyderco Manix2 Lightweight is its flat-ground CTS BD1 stainless steel blade. Its leaf-shaped profile flows seamlessly into the lines of the handle while providing both a forefinger choil and an understated thumb ramp. Both these areas feature strategic jimping (textured grooves) for a secure grip and support a forward grip for increased control during detailed cutting tasks. The blade’s 14mm Trademark Round Hole makes one-handed deployment with either hand swift and positive.

The Manix 2 Lightweight’s handle is injection moulded from translucent FRCP and includes Spyderco’s distinctive Bi-Directional Texturing pattern to ensure a secure grip in all environmental conditions. The lightweight FRCP handle reduced the overall weight of the knife to a mere 3.0 ounces—42 percent lighter than the G-10 handled Manix2. A reversible wire clip provides convenient left or right-side tip-up carry and an oversized lanyard hole allows the easy attachment of fobs and lanyards.

Linking the blade and handle is Spyderco’s patented Ball Bearing Lock mechanism. This high-strength lock consists of a ball bearing nested within a durable textured polymer “cage.” When the blade is opened, a spring-loaded steel plunger drives the ball bearing forward to wedge between a ramp on the blade and an “anvil” in the handle’s steel insert. Drawing the caged ball bearing to the rear releases the lock and allows the blade to close smoothly while keeping your fingers safely away from the sharp edge. Smooth, strong, and easily operated, like the rest of the knife’s features, the Ball Bearing Lock is also completely ambidextrous.

This one comes with the upgrades!

Posted by Alex on 15th Oct 2024

I bought this because I wanted the translucent version, but the pics had the pinned body which I was OK dealing with, but to my surprise, not only does this translucent version have the upgraded torx screws on the body meaning it can be taken apart, it also comes with the BD1N blade, which is a bit of a step up from the older BD1. Happy days! Love it, it feels amazing in the hand, and solid. Razor sharp out of the box. Great service from Heinnie as always!

    Another home run for Spyderco

Posted by SpyderJake on 25th Oct 2016

This knife is one of my favourite Spyderco knives ever! This evolution of the Manix takes the functional blade shape of the original Manix 2 and puts it into a lightweight FRCP (Fibreglass reinforced co-polymer) handle. The CTS BD1 steel is a great multi purpose steel that takes and holds a super sharp edge and re-sharpens relatively easy. Great for camping, EDC (where able), food prep and general utility. JUST BUY IT!!!!!!!

    Just a great knife

Posted by Chris on 21st Oct 2016

I was in two minds about this but as I've become a fan of both the axis lock and the compression lock I have become drawn to this knife. After spending some time using a cheap Ganzo G729 as my EDC I wanted something of higher quality but similar asthetics to replace it. As I'm a fan of Spyderco I became drawn to this knife. There's not really anything I can say that's not already been said. It's light weight, feels very good in hand, opens and closed smoothly andis just a joy to behold. The wire pocket clips is a good thing too. I could mark it down of blade steel; CTS-BD1 isn't bad but I don't rate it as highly as some. There are other versions available now with S110V but that's out of my budget for now so I'll stick to what I have and be happy. This knife, especially considering that there are higher-end versions on the market, isn't what I'd call a knife just for collecting. Buy one and use it - that's what it's for.

    Chance 1

Don't normally leave reviews but the bribe of a fallkniven is proving too much, well, the blade is just a bit bigger than my, errmm,, little finger, it's sharp and pointy and the handle is blue!!

    My Best Spyderco so far.

Posted by Alan on 23rd Jun 2016

Probably the most comfortable knife i have ever held. So light you forget it's in your pocket. Easy one hand open and close. Worth every penny it cost. I seem to be using it all day, just can't stop flicking it open......

    Feather weight manix 2

Posted by SA on 8th May 2016

Compared to the full fat original manix 2 this one is very light in hand but still cuts and performs just as well as its big brother, really like the colour of the handle and the blade steel holds a good edge for a long time. Can't go wrong with manix which ever variant you decide to get it in its all good excellent knife

    Great Spyderco

Posted by Maybuz on 24th Jul 2015

Think of this knife as a UKPK on steroids with the added lock. I personally love cts-bd1 steel, it takes a mirror edge which contrasts very nicely with the natural stonewashed look of the knife. The handle doesn't look the most robust, as there are no steel liners, but don't let that put you off. This knife has handled everything I've thrown at it. The ball bearing lock is very strong and makes one handed opening a joy. Great knife, great HH service as usual.

Spyderco at their best, coupled with HH at their best.
