Spyderco’s remarkable SLIPIT family of knives combines the advantages of clip carry and easy one-handed opening with the broad legal acceptance of the non-locking folder. This member of the unique Spyderco breed is the Spyderco Lil’ Native SLIPIT, which replaces the Compression Lock and back lock of the original model with Spyderco’s “notched-joint” mechanism.

An enhanced version of a traditional slipjoint, this mechanism uses spring pressure to hold the knife’s full-flat-ground CPM S30V blade open, but does not lock it. Peel-ply-textured G-10 scales ensure a non-slip grip and a broad-based four-position clip offers ambidextrous tip-up or tip-down carry.

Love it though it is flawed

Posted by Charlie on 27th Nov 2024

This could have been the best UK legal Spyderco, but it’s not quite finished. We need a Heinnie version with jimping, a half stop & perhaps a steel change ? The ergonomics are great, as are the blades shape and thickness. But for the money a Heinnie UKPK is a better option.

NOT twice as good as the UKPK

Posted by RandomReviewZ YT on 19th May 2023

I'm not a huge fan of this knife. For the high price and other raving reviews, I was expecting something special. The fit and finish isn't great. The back spring feel slightly proud against the scales and it has sharp edges. The top edge of the blade is also very sharp and uncomfortable. The pocket clip is ugly and isn't deep carry. I'd rather carry a UKPK or Urban, especially at half the price.

    Superb

I've looked at these from they first landed at HH. I'm so glad I bought it and from first opening the box I knew I was going to like it. The fit and finish is top draw and fits my hand really well. I'm over the moon with it, yes it's expensive but it's worth it. As usual top service from HH which is never in doubt

    Extra clip holes

Posted by James Bruce on 13th May 2022

Follow up to my previous review and my niggle over the 9 off extra holes drilled in the handle scales for people who want to muck about with the clip position. For £3 have bought 10 off black torx screws intended for Benchmade / Spyderco knives off Ebay. These screws are M2 x 4mm so only 1off screw was good to fit as is. The other 8 off either bottom out on the knife frame (at the clip end) or foul the blade (at the blade pivot end) so I have had to carefully grind off about 1 mm from 8 off screws with a small Dremel like tool and flat grind stone. Knife looks better now in my opinion albeit with 9 off screws it shouldn't have needed but it's better than all those stupid empty holes. Am now going to remove all my new screws and carefully Loctite the wee blighters in with some 241 so they don't work themselves loose and fall out.

    Great knife, terrible Torx screws

Posted by Mo on 5th May 2022

This knife is brilliant size and has a smooth opening as there is no half stop, which I prefer. Even though the knife stock is quite thick, it doesn’t feel thick. There are three major downsides. The first being the clip, I would have preferred the deep carry wire clip. The second is the extra holes for mounting the clip, it ruins the look. The last and in my opinion the biggest downside is the use if Torx Plus screws, I would have preferred standard Torx screws. I would love a Hennie Haynes edition, with Torx screws and a simple wire clip, just like the Urban

    Big little knife

Posted by David T on 28th Apr 2022

It's like a beefed up Urban, but with a blade shape I personally prefer aesthetically. I do wish it had the deep carry wire pocket clip like the locking versions and didn't have all these drilled holes in the scales for swapping between left/right tip up/down carry, but I guess you can't have it all. Otherwise, this is the perfect EDC for me.

    Quality slipjoint

Had my eye on this for a year. Good to see it available at HH. Solid and flawless quality. Reassuringly strong snappy action. Speed of delivery from HH never ceases to surprise me.

    Excellent

Posted by James Bruce on 26th Apr 2022

Have waited many years for a UK legal carry Spyderco Native to join my ever growing collection. Even if it is a "Lil" version, which I prefer, (I try and keep my knives to less than 150mm if possible) so I am delighted with my new baby. Excellent build quality, razor sharp and one handed opening. It is over £110 less expensive than the most expensive knife in my UK legal carry collection but it will have to take a very special knife to come along and replace this stunner in my pocket. All the knife you will ever need. My only small niggle is the 9 off "extra" tapped holes that are in the G10 scales for those people who want to muck about changing the position of the pocket clip. I am trying to source some extra screws to fill all these empty screw holes with but it's not being an easy thing to do. Might just have to live with them. Either that or some nice custom carbon fibre scales. Or a red HH scaled variant.... hint hint guys !!. Highly recommended.
