Description

Developed in close cooperation with the jumpmasters of the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division, the Spyderco Jumpmaster 2 is a high-performance cutting tool specifically designed to support airborne operations. Jumpmasters are specially trained personnel who oversee airborne troops as they exit an aircraft during parachute operations. If a soldier hangs up and his chute fails to deploy, the jumpmaster must quickly and safely cut the static line to free the jumper.

The Jumpmaster’s fully serrated SpyderEdge cutting edge powers through webbing, rope and other fibrous materials. Its blade is hollow ground from H-1, a remarkable nitrogen-based steel that is completely rustproof. To ensure strength, a deft balance, and a positive grip during high-stress situations, the Jumpmaster features a skeletonized full tang capped by injection-molded fibreglass-reinforced-nylon scales. The ergonomic shape of the handle “brackets” the user's hand while the Bi-Directional Texture pattern of the scales ensures a positive grip in even the most demanding circumstances.

 

The Jumpmaster 2 comes complete with a custom-molded Boltaron® sheath with a versatile G-Clip™ attachment that supports a full range of carry options.

    SCARY SHARP

    This is the sharpest knife I’ve ever owned to the extent I’m wary of it, even the slightest slip would probably be serious. I’ve cut climbing rope, seat belts, heavy ratchet straps, zip ties, car tyre wall and that heavy fabric that truck side curtains are made from. It just cuts through everything like I’ve never experienced before. It’s light weight and you don’t notice carrying it. I bought this for rescue purposes if it ever comes out of its sheath someone’s having a c**p day so hopefully it will stay put. The H1 is ideal for this as I don’t have to worry too much about maintenance. Usual 5* Heinnie service.

    I have owned a lot of Spyderco's made from H1, they all cut well. However the new Jumpmaster cuts ridiculously well, thats tested on rope, cardboard and my finger (ouch). It also sits "just right" in either hand using all the grips I know. It feels light and manoeuvres quickly with just the right weight so you know you're holding it. Overall its a damn near perfect medium sized utility knife that could easily be used for bushcraft. Given the indestructible H1 steel blade and fittings - this knife will probably last forever.
