The Spyderco Bug is one of the UK's best selling non-locking folding knives - and it's tiny.

Aerodynamically the bumble bee shouldn't be able to fly but someone forgot to tell the bee. The flight of the bumble bee defies both nature and one’s expectations that something that small can perform such a grand maneuver. Like bumblebees, Spyderco Bugs perform unexpectedly. The Bug, not much larger than a bee, is the latest addition. Spyderco's SLIPITS are non-locking slip- joint knives. They have no locking mechanism holding the blade open, relying instead on resistant pressure at the pivot area when the blade is extended and being used. Bugs are part of the SLIPIT group and thus UK friendly carry.

The flat ground blade is 3Cr13MoV stainless steel available with a PlainEdge. The Bug’s handle offers a flat surface for a small amount of engraving or embellishment and can be customized for use as jewelry or a gift item. Positioned on the end of the handle is a lanyard hole large enough to thread with a chain and be worn around the neck or slipped onto a key chain. The Bug is the smallest folder in the Spyderco lineup.

    Little charmer...

Posted by Stevo on 6th Oct 2019

So many reviews endorse this tiny slipjoint. After buying one it is easy to understand why. It is well made, with a lively snap and very positive engagement. Alright, it's not really big enough for food prep, but all the other day to day tasks of a little pocket knife are well within its ability. Small but well formed, the Bug is every bit as charming in person as its admirers claim. I feel it is as tiny as I would like to go in terms of functionality and ergonomics. Right at the cusp of usefulness versus ornamentation. The fit and finish is very good. The symmetry of the grinds is well done. Placing it next to a UKPK brings an amused smile. Needless to say it all but disappears in a pocket. And that is the only cautionary thought that comes to mind. It would be easy to forget the whereabouts of this diminutive but very useful little gem. But overall, yes, a welcome addition to any collection. Wonderful service and delivery from HH, as ever.

    Great little knife

Posted by C Egan on 10th Jul 2019

Love this knife, solid feel, good opening mechanism and sharp blade. Great for anyone's collection. For me it's more of a novelty item rather than a practical tool but still a fantastic knife. As always top class service from Heinnie.

    Kind of cute?

This is a truly tiny little blade but it performs surprisingly well. Nice option for a tiny keychain knife and makes a neat little gift for the uninitiated.

    A practical novelty!

Posted by Lauren K on 26th Jun 2018

I bought this little fella as a novelty for my keychain. I was surprised to find out how functional it really is. First, look at the picture. Realise the two indents in the scales? They're for your first two fingers. They're that tiny. Seriously, it's unreal. I only wanted it to be able to boast that I have a legit Spyderco on me at all times, but I've found myself using this thing all the time at work to open letters and packages. People just kept borrowing my UKPK that was my EDC, to the point I began bringing a second EDC with me that also g ot borrowed nonstop. Now it's just a given that my two real knives get lent to people sometime in the morning and I spend the rest of the day using hte Bug. And I'm fine with it. Yes, it's China-made, but we all know that's no longer the mark of shame it once was in the knife world. This thing came razor-sharp out of the box and has kept a remarkable edge, even when it's been used to sharpen pencils (I own a pencil sharpener, but let's be honest, it's far cooler to do it with a knife). It feels very solidly constructed even though it looks like it fell out of a Christmas cracker. Heck, I even got a laugh when a security guard at one of our offices had to do a routine checklist including declaring if we were carrying any weapons. I pulled out the Bug and instantly made a new friend with the jokes that commenced. Overall, I can't recommend this enough. Yes, it's an amusing novelty, but it's also a legit great tiny knife that I've been able to use as a backup when my EDC gets borrowed for several hours. They used to be cheaper but £15 is about the upper limit of what I'd be willing to pay. If Spyderco increase the price again I may knock off a star, but for now it's a solid easy 5.

    Awesome little cutter

Posted by Woodhead on 4th Nov 2017

HH provide quick reliable service and have superb loyalty to their customers. The Bug, very small but a nice strong back spring, razor sharp OTB and a great 2 finger and thumb hold gives you good purchase if you had to use her. 2 handed opening means you won't surprise anyone f*king it open and although the blade shapes a little aggressive the blades so small nobody will probably even know you have a knife. Great purchase very pleased with it.

    Floppy blade

Posted by Auta on 18th Jul 2017

The blade of mine now flops open of its own accord, making it troublesome to have in a trouser pocket. Tried to fix it, but can't. It's had minimal use over some three years - so quite why the "lock" has failed so is puzzling. But it was nice while it lasted!

Tiny, but very sharp and very usable.

Posted by Wizzzard on 22nd Feb 2017

1st purchase from Heinnie and can only echo what everybody else has said. Fantastic service and fast. The bug is tiny. I read the specs and reviews but a 3.3 cm blade really is tiny. It is a serious knife though feels solidly built and is sharp straight from the tiny Spyderco box. It is on my keyring and will go everywhere with me. It is totally inoffensive but is up to most of the jobs I am likely to encounter.

Just get one for your keyring

Posted by Ryan on 11th Nov 2016

Scalpel sharp out of the box. You may get the odd rust spot, but easy to clean off. Excellent discreet little blade. I have a couple, one is 5 years old & still going strong
