      Poor/useless

Posted by Holdfast on 27th Nov 2018

Used three times as a back up in the rain hunting and got soaked to the skin; three times. Carried it around the world in the vain hope that some day it would redeem itself; which it did not. Now its made in China pervious material is probably clogging up the intestines of a whale or turtle some place and doing an excellent job as such. Heinnie Haynes, difficult to fault a Company like them, four star.

      Indespensable

This is what you need when it is absolutely bucketing down. Nothing compares to it for shelter and rain resistance and its pretty windproof. It is quite bulky but worth making a space for if you are expecting bad weather. Also covers everything with room to spare.

      Good Kit

Agree with other reviews, lightweight, packs very small, generous sizing, well made and waterproof, good value for the money.

      Enhanced Patrol Poncho

For 30 quid this is a bargain. I have some great quality waterproof jackets and pants but sometimes a poncho is a better option. Thumb loops work great, hood too. I have an old webbing belt that is too big for me which I use to secure it around my middle if it gets too windy. Shock cord and cord locks would work just as well. Just to be clear this is the Enhanced Patrol Poncho as seen on Snugpak site.

      Well designed but...

..if the weather gets windy, you'll probably need something around your waist to prevent this poncho becoming a parachute. ;-) Otherwise, you have plenty of room for your backpack and the hood is pretty cool. The front chest pocket can be quite handy as well, well done Snugpak.

      Expensive but did the job

Posted by Garry Wilson on 26th Apr 2011

I bought this for Summer lowland long distance hiking to save having to carry both a waterproof and a raincover for my rucksack. I balked a bit at the price but I have been satisfied with snugpak products in the past. During walking St Cuthbert's way it absolutely poured down solidly for 5 hours. Walking through head height soaking wet ferns merely added to the drenching but I and my rucksack remained completely dry. Items in the kangaroo pouch didn't fare quite so well but remained pretty dry.
