Cheaper, less faff, easier to store and almost as fast as a chainsaw!
I purchased the 37 cm "BiGBOY" for two reasons, firstly to keep in my Land Rover Defender when green-lane driving or offroading, but also to process firewood. The ultra coarse teeth on the blackened blade of this saw are amazingly sharp, and fast cutting. It is easily able to handle hardwood (cherry) branches up to 22 cm, cutting them quickly and easily with a very fine cut width (kerf). If you've never used a Japanese pull saw blade, they take a little bit of getting used to, but once you have the technique sorted you'll never go back to a traditional push bladed saw, I personally would practice on a smaller bladed version before transitioning to this monster! I would certainly recommend appropriate PPE; gloves, goggles and sturdy footwear since this thing will quite easily take a slice out of you as it would do a branch or trunk of a tree!
