Description

The Schrade Old Timer Luxewood from the Frontier Series is a modern take on a traditional working knife, designed for everyday reliability with a touch of nostalgia. Built around a practical drop point blade deployed via a smooth pivot lock system, it offers one-handed opening and secure lock-up when in use.

The 7Cr17MoV stainless steel blade provides solid edge retention and easy maintenance, making it suitable for daily cutting jobs or outdoor use. The handle features textured polymer Luxewood scales - classic Old Timer style meeting contemporary materials. Both the blade and the handle share a gray coating to protect against scuffs and scratches.

True to the Frontier ethos, the Old Timer is sturdy, dependable, and built for those who prefer a tool that earns its keep through use rather than ornament. Ideal for anyone after a no-nonsense folding knife with a familiar Old Timer feel and modern functionality.

Schrade Old Timer Frontier Luxewood Folder

Posted by Gary Ralph on 12th Feb 2026

Schrade Old Timer Frontier Luxewood folding knife. I like this. It's like a mix, a modern-traditional EDC folder with a nicely coated 3.75-inch, 7Cr17MoV stainless steel clip point blade. The coating continues throughout with bolsters and clip etc. It has cool looking rustic style Luxewood composite handles. A really nice looking budget friendly piece with a classic look, utilizing modern pivot-lock system for safety and one-handed operation. Glad I got this one for my collection. Great sales care from Heinnie Haynes. They always do. Above and beyond.

    not impressed

Posted by Michael Hughes on 13th Jan 2026

For £31.95 not a lot of thought went into this knife I feel. The bottom end feels way to thick and bulky, the thumb stud is so close to the handle, when the blade is closed its unusually fiddly too open via, and not a single picture displays that here. the springs are very weak and the blade can be opened simple by 1-2 waves of the arm (as if you were too slip on stairs or a wet floor). The crossbar lock, while a nice feature is like the thumb stud, hard to grip. However you do get decent quality of material for the cost and it looks fairly nice with a "old timer " theme which is also displayed in white at the bottom of the blade which is a nice detail.
