Real "retro" look about this knife which is why I bought it. Despite its appearance, it is a usable little knife for daily use, with a nice sharp blade. H.H brilliant as usual.
Nice little knife but it needed sharpening as it was a little dull straight out of the box.
I really love this little knife, razor sharp with a good firm action, pity it's a liner lock as the back-spring is strong enough not to need to be. Despite this I will still use it as an EDC , you'd need a very vengeful policeman to charge you with carrying.
Rough Rider Old Yellow Work Knife RR818 This is another nice knife from R.R. and has a feeling of quality and ruggedness which belies its price of just under £9.00. Blade length from choil to tip is 60.5 and thickness of the blank is 2.3mm. Overall length is 155mm and the closed length is 88mm. Overall thickness is 11.4mm. The knife easily fits in a standard tobacco tin and is ideal for inclusion in a small survival kit “ the purpose for which I bought it. The frame is brass and the scales are yellow plastic with brass rivets; should be easy to find if dropped in the field. The mech is dual slip joint and frame lock and holds the blade very well indeed, with no detectable play. The knife is sharp out of the box, although the grind of the edge was a little asymmetrical. A few strokes with a stone put that right and it honed up to a razor sharp edge. This is a tool which inspires confidence in use from its feeling of quality and strength. Great service from H.H as usual. Highly recommended!
This just arrived in time for Christmas (phew!) - thanks Heinnie. Sharp out-of-the box, no joint play and the blade is dead-straight - a very few of my RRs have had blades that have been slightly bent, I assume to fit the frames. This is not a liner-lock as illustrated, but a slip-joint - effectively the little brother to the Small Work Knife. However, it opens and closes with a nice, positive, 'snap'. I see no reason to give it other than 5 stars. It's going to make a great gift.
Have had this beauty now for a few days. And as always HH delivered promptly. The knife is well weighted and balanced, lovely brass bolsters, love the old look given and came sharp otb. Very good knife for everyday use.
