    Blade play

Posted by steve on 25th Jun 2021

I have one of these, it's a very good knife with a solid lock up, however it's a very large knife, larger than a Buck 110, mine had a slight downward play on the blade at lock up, but not enough to return to Heinnie, it looks as though the locking mechanism has been machined about 1mm too much, apart from that I have no complaints, it was sharp out of the box, opens with a very positive snap, and is very well made. I still prefer my Buck 110 over it, but for the price this is a fantastic BIG & BEEFY knife.

    Rough Rider Folding Hunterb

Good old school knife. Not quite as good as the Cold Steel Ranch Boss II that I also have. But then again it’s only half the price, which makes it affordable and excellent value for money. Great build quality.

    ROUGH RIDER AMBER JIGGED BONE

Posted by Rick on 5th Oct 2020

If you're after a budget version of the cold steel ranch look no further. It's big with a real solid liner lock as well as beefy back spring. Rough rider have done it again. 1st class service as usual

    Worth having.

I also have the classic Micarta hunter. These can’t be beaten for the price. The fit and finish are of a standard expected in a knife 2 or 3 times the price. You won’t regret buying this knife, worth every penny

    Great knife

Posted by Vultee on 15th Feb 2020

I just got this knife, and it's BIG, both open and closed it's about 1/2" longer than my Buck 110, but a tad lighter. A couple of Rough Riders I've had have suffered from wimpy backstraps, however this knife both opens and closes with a good workmanlike snap and has a solid lock up. It is a little gritty on opening so I lightly oiled it and no doubt in time with smooth up, all in all it's a cracking knife, and delivered with Heinnie's usual excellent service and promptness

Amazing quality for such a cheap knife.

Posted by Ric on 17th Feb 2015

I just can't get my head round the fact there is absolutely zero, and I mean zero blade play in this knife whatsoever! it opens with a very satisfying CLUNK!!! And the liner lock is a pleasure to use. No sharp edges, but a design I thing used by SHRADE! The bottom line is, for such a low cost knife (And very functional) You could afford to buy one a month!! How crazy is that!!! One last thing, apart from the totally flawless customer care that Heinnie offers, Maybe they should consider working for the council to put the roads right!!!! surely they would do a massively better job. I think I'm very satisfied thanks.

    Great for the price

Posted by Nick on 21st Dec 2014

I brought this knife a week or so ago and for the price its great for what you get. I thought iIwas getting a fairly small knife and didn't check the blade length and I was pretty surprised how big the blade was! The edge came close to razor sharp out of the box and after a few times going over on my diamond sharpener the edge was the standard I liked. There's no blade wobble and the walk and talk is around a 6 -7 which is great. The reason I'm giving this 4 instead of 5 stars is due to the fit a finish of the scales and back springs. Holding the knife up to the light there was quite a few gaps in the springs and one of the scales wasn't really tight to the bolsters. Overall I'm really happy with the purchase. It's a great addition to my Rough Rider Collection! Thanks HH for the swift and safe delivery too.
