    Great knife

Posted by Steve Lewis on 20th Nov 2022

I love Opinels, and I recently got the number 8 after wrongly ordering the number 7, I explained to Heinnie that it was my fault entirely about the wrong order, but they did give me a refund , absolutely faultless service from Heinnie, as Tina Turner sang they're "Simply the Best"

    Opinel no 8 olive

The superb Opinel in fine Wood choices - unbeatable ! The grain and figuring of my Olive wood example can only be described as spectacular ! I personalise Opinel handles by Subtly rounding corners into pocket friendliness, gently sand off the Varnish, fine wire wool then soak in Tung oil. Olive responds so well to an oil finish ! Top marks to HH for super fast service and also i must mention Richard, who dealt with my telephone order - Top chap !

    Perfection

Posted by Charlie on 22nd Jan 2021

It's all been said already. I've inherited a No12 off my granny. I've got a No7 carbon in the kitchen. I've had half a dozen pass through my hands over 50 odd years. My Mrs commented on the taste from the carbon one so I bought her this.

I really like the inox models for any good stuff but I know some only like carbone? Shame as they miss out one the lovely olive wood ! HH sent as per usual fast Totally recommended version at a great price ,Will last year's as do all Opinel s

    Very pleased (eventually)

Posted by Stevo on 17th Jun 2017

Old world charm and peerless performance within its limits. The convex blade geometry excels at slicing. Owning several Opi's, olive and stainless seemed a nice choice for kitchen use and for eating fruit, etc. My knife arrived with a pronounced sideways curve of the blade, and a prominent burr right on the tip. The locking ring would not engage properly, so the blade had a tiny bit of rotary play. Never had an Opinel with any of these faults. But, it did its tasks well, after sorting the burr. Sandvik stainless is excellent. Recently, I made it EDC legal. Blade is now just under 3 inches from handle to tip. Looks a bit like a Case Sodbuster Jr, now. Took about an hour, with a flat stone from the back garden, and water, forming a grinding paste on the stone. VERY carefully tapped the blade straight(er), avoiding the edge. Popped the lock off. Result? A handsome friction folder with a hand-filling grip. The blade on mine moves almost stiffly, but in a good way. So, that's why I'm giving it 5 stars. Although a bit disappointed at first, I really like this one now. A major advantage to Opinel knives: they are easy to work on, and the end result makes for a very satisfying experience. My experience with Heinnie's was, as usual, stellar.

Opinel quality with a dash more style.

Posted by Matthew on 17th Jan 2017

I own several opinel knives and love their simplicity, quality and value for money but this one is my favourite. As with most Opinels the blade did not come particularly sharp but after a few passes on a strop it was shaving sharp. Everything else about the knife is excellent and for under£13 it is amazing value. I was particularly impressed with the finish of the handle as the olive wood has a very pleasing grain. One thing to note is that the pictured knife has the Opinel branding on the handle, mine does not. It has the Opinel Inox stamp on the blade but the handle is unmarked, which I personally think gives it a very classy look.

    Another gem

Posted by Oli on 31st Aug 2016

Superb little knife, great service from Heinnie Haynes. The first thing I did was to oil the beautiful Olive handle and bring it to a gloss with a polishing cloth. The blade is great, I know a lot of people prefer the carbon models but there is not a whole lot of difference once sharpened. I'd happily use it to shave. A simple, elegant and well made knife I would recommend to anyone and Opinel Inox series are really easy to look after.

    Not as good as expected.

Posted by Colin on 13th Oct 2014

Fancied Olive wood handle from picture mine not a nice one, disappointed with grain and finish, how ever used it for fruit peeling and handy to carry in lunch box as it can be closed unlike kitchen knife.
