The Savoyard Tradition

Joseph Opinel created his first knife in 1890 as a working tool for farmers and herdsmen in the Savoie region. That original design remains largely unchanged because it simply works. The Classic Original No.8 Inox showcases this heritage with its beechwood handle and Sandvik 12C27M stainless steel blade. Marcel Opinel later invented the Virobloc safety ring in 1955, adding secure blade locking without complicating the elegant design.
