    Oh no - stop it!

Posted by Singleagain on 12th Apr 2018

November “ not a great month. So, to start with, the Bestech Junzi in grey came back in to stock, and just had to be bought. (If you don't have one, get one). I think the Junzi has just beaten my Mcusta Bamboo to the title of Most Elegant Knife in my collection “ but they are both on the table in front of me, and I'm still not sure. So, taking a pause for breath, I bought the Cold Steel Tuff Lite AUS8 A “ what a great little knife that is, and a bit of a bargain in my opinion. And then - come on guys “ back into stock came the Lion Steel SR1 Aluminium in red. I'm not sure my wallet can cope with this! I had been lusting after this for a while, but a bit of a breather would have been nice. And perhaps you only bought one, because now it's on back order again! Anyway, the SR1. How can you not buy a knife that was awarded the most innovative imported design' at the 2010 Blade Show in Atlanta USA? I hadn't realised that it had been around for that long. It was a close call between this and the Spyderco Sage 2 Titanium, but I guess that will have to wait. Everything you have read or seen about the SR1 is true, and I'm not going to bother to repeat it, but I do have a couple of observations to make. Firstly, despite having watched a number of reviews and read the specs, I was still surprised by how big this knife is. If you like the style but want to use it as an EDC you might be better off choosing the SR2 Mini. Secondly the lock on mine is very difficult to disengage, and given the design I don't expect it to get any easier over time. Lastly, both when opening and closing the knife the relatively sharp edge or end of the clip catches my third finger and is quite uncomfortable. These are only minor niggles and do not detract from the overall design and quality of the knife, but are just enough for me to knock one star off the rating. Personally I think red is the only colour to have, but that's up to you. Just buy one “ you won't regret it.

    A Design Classic

Posted by Andy G on 4th May 2017

This arrived a couple of days ago with the usual super speedy, no fuss service we all know and love. I've waited for this to come in to stock for a few weeks and have lusted after one for years. I am very impressed indeed. What a piece of engineering this is. Fit and finish are superb, the blade when deployed is rock steady and hair-shaving sharp out of the box. The red finish is much better than the photos suggest and it feels well seated in the hand. I usually sniff a bit contemptuously when people say they're not going to use their knives but keep them in their sock drawer - but now I see what they mean. This thing is gorgeous & should be in a display cabinet somewhere posher than my house! I'm struggling to fault it. Am I gushing too much? Buy one and see. Well done Heinnie. Well done Lion Steel. Superb!!

    Exceptional

Truly outstanding knife, the pictures on the website simply don't do it justice, if this doesn't end up in a design museum something's wrong. Absolutely beautiful looking, good ergonomics, fabulous build quality and top materials used , for the price I feel like I've robbed them. My first Lion Steel knife, definitely not my last, I cannot recommend this highly enough. I appreciate we all have different budgets, and if this is the top end of yours, you will not regret buying it, trust me on that, it's probably the best knife I've ever had from HH, definitely the best folder by a big margin.

    CLOSE TO PERFECTION!

Posted by Pawel f on 6th Nov 2015

I have a few knives in my collection but this one is just outstanding... But before I get to the details huge thanks to HEINNIE for the exceptional service - the best online retailer in my opinion! The knife itself will make your jaw drop. Then it will put a smile on your face. I had a certain expectations after I visited their website ********************** I recommend you do that too and download their catalog. It's a piece of art at first. Really beautiful design. I actually wanted the colored version but only black available... I couldn't wait. The handle. I personally think the aluminum handle does the same job as the titanium one and it's even lighter so my choice was obvious. It has a warm feeling and it lays nicely in the hand. I've got a medium size hands and that's how I would describe the size of the handle too. Very ergonomic and does not cause any fatigue. Locking mechanism. A unique frame lock with an extra feature to hold the blade in place once the knife is open. It really feels like a fixed blade. Very solid. No blade play in any direction. The blade. I'm speechless... Wow! It's shaving sharp, great profile, nice and thick at spine. Hollow grind and it looks like it will last forever. The clip. It's ok. Does its job. I think it could be slightly longer. Glass breaker. Yeah! There is a glass breaker! If you don't need it you will hardly notice it's there. Very tiny and it won't hurt you. It's actually a screw to hold the clip in place. Fit and finish. One word: perfect. Everywhere solid, super smooth edges, a lot of attention to details. The deployment. Some people complain that it's not easy to deploy. It's true. It's not. But I don't care and I actually like that. All you need is just a bit of wrist movement and the blade comes out with a loud click! It also comes with a little tool to adjust the screws or to remove the clip. Any downsides? Plastic washers... I mean why? Summary. Almost a perfect knife. As beautiful as practical. BUY IT!

Lion Steel sure know how to make knives. Think I'm right in saying that the SR1 is the only knife, so far, that has a handle made from a solid machined billet. That makes this knife unique at the moment. I'm over the moon with this purchase. It's a big knife and incredibly engineered with fine tolerances. It locks solidly and feels great in the hand and I love the colour. Overall this is one hell of a knife for the money. HH delivery was faultless as usual.

    Great value

Can't fault this knife for the money. I bought the Lambo Orange version, love the sound it makes when opening and closing. I have much more expensive pieces, but this gives me as much fun. Get one!
