It fits in the coin pocket of my Levi 501's!!!

Posted by Paul on 10th Jun 2019

Not the best, certainly not the heaviest, Not really EDC as it has locking blade (who on earth thought that one up.... obviously someone who has not has the blade of a Swiss Army knife collapse in use... and all that entails!. But it fits in the coin pocket of of my Levis 501's !!.

      Good Value

Posted by Robert on 5th Sep 2015

I have been using / carrying the wingman almost everyday now since I got it around a year ago, super fast delivery from HH as we all have come to expect, great service !
now I like and have used most of the tools on it and all seem fit for purpose but its not all perfect but for the price its good value.
Big plus for me is the pocket clip as I dont have to wear a pouch or rumage through a pocket to get to it.All the tools function as needed and dont feel light weight.
Down sides for me the needle tip to the pliers snapped of very soon it was only the very end tip that broke so I had to re grind the pliers tip but they still function as long nose pliers, I dont like the serated part of the blade I would have prefered the sidekick blade and its difficult to open one handed , there is not too much play but there is some, but it has seen alot of use having said this it has never let me down and I will always pick up the wingman before any other as my EDC for work.

      A true wingman

Like a good wingman should, this has helped me out in a few sticky situations. Inexpensive but not cheap, you know what you're getting with a Leatherman.

very poor put off slightly buying another modle

Posted by Dean on 31st Mar 2014

Very poor, tools are not the best to get out and use. But worse of and being its main function being the grips! Very very poor play is bad, I've had less play from a cheapo £1 pair! This is my first maybe last Leatherman, may opt for a more pricey pair to see if there better. I returned the Wingman to HH 2min after taking them out the box! Got a full refund. Don't buy the Wingman. Spend a bit more.

Not well made and falling apart

Posted by John on 3rd Mar 2014

Straight out the box there was a lot of play on the handles, blade and scissors. Snapped the blade tip off filleting a fish when I accidently hit the wooden pier, when I got home from the fishing trip I put it in a bucket of water to help clean it an the leaf springs that locks the handles open and shut snapped off on one of the handles so one of the handles hangs loose, two weeks after this the scissors fail cutting A4 paper. Opening the blade quickly with one hand resulted in my thumb rolling over the serrations resulting in a deep nasty cut. My first and last Leatherman. Utter junk! It's only been used 6 or 7 times in less than a year.

      value

Posted by hutch on 10th Jan 2014

yes this is a cheaper leatherman but its still good value for the money and with the blade on the outside I use that almost everyday for opening packaging, scissors are great, screwdrivers are both ok and useful, the file also good and effective even though, a really good tool is the package opener for those pain in the a**e plastic packets, the can opener is bigger and not as sharp as the more expensive leatherman tools but still works great same as wire striper.
Finally the pliers while there is a little play in them they are very good for a cheaper leatherman
I would definitely recommend this over any of the same priced other brands (especially over gerber)

      Great value

Posted by Damian on 25th Dec 2013

Unfortunetely, I did not buy this at Heinnie. This multi tool is great value for money. It seems sturdy and can perform most of the tasks. The only downside is that mine had a little blade play up and down since I got it. Otherwise it's a great tool and I would recommend to everyone with the intention of light use.

      Excellent Value

Posted by Greg Walton on 3rd Aug 2013

I bought one of these secondhand, but little used, recently. I have to say I have had no problems with the scissors or any other tool. Normally with a multitool or Swiss Army Knife I feel like "I'm using these tools because I haven't brought the right tool". With this I feel like, within reason, it is the right tool.

It's at the cheaper end of the Leatherman range and I'm sensible about not expecting it to tackle huge jobs. For what it does, though, it is excellent.

      Not so impressed

Posted by John on 7th Aug 2012

After the jaws becoming loose (first time ever on a Leatherman) HH allowed me to return the tool and sorted the problem out (excellent service, as ever, from HH [and Leatherman, I guess]).

But... I find the knife a little difficult to deploy one handed, ditto the scissors (which - with external scissors - is largely why I bought this tool) and - when they are deployed - they are simply not very good. Not sharp enough with a tendency to cross rather than cut and not comfy to use (unlike the smaller scissors on my Charge which are both more comfortable to use and very much sharper).

But - hey - it's only £35 or so, not over a hundred.

I think that it's a compromise for Leatherman: a budget tool and it feels like it.

The only positive thing I would say about it is that the sprung jaws on the pliers are quite nice.
