Great tool but price point seems a bit high
I love the Wave+ and thought this looked like a good additional tool to have. Mine operates smoothly without excess stiffness out of the box and it looks great. The toolset is excellent and as functional as expected. I have a Signal for use in my outdoor work, so I don't need the serrated blade here, although others might miss it. The headline Magnacut blade does seem lovely and robust and I actually prefer the profile to that on the Arc. My Magnacut blades (Arc too) don't feel quite as sharp out of the box as some other Leatherman blades I have, which you could literally shave with, but they are still fine and maybe that is a characteristic of the steel. The new and larger scissors are a big plus and are the best I have on a Leatherman, The black coating is tough-ish but will scratch off with any significant metal to metal contact unfortunately. The profiled handle scales add some bulk but are the most comfortable I have used and are not cold to the touch. My only gripe is that the price point is just too high. I get the Magnacut blade costs more, but the engineering for the free tech on the arc is clearly a big step up in sophistication and the pliers are more robust, The Alpha is a refined Wave with a better blade, so to me should sit more mid-way between the price of the Wave+ and Arc; not so close to the Arc. As such, it is a great tool, but the other two are better value at their price points.
