    Not great -

Posted by KB on 17th Mar 2018

Fit of the rods into the system is woeful. Yes it's has 17, 20 & 25° holders, but they have a good 2-3° wobble in them so it's more of a relative thing. Accurate it isn't. The coarser rods are not coarse enough. If your blade is properly blunt, start on something else. Whole system feels cheap. It may work on tickling bush knives but I am not impressed for use on fine kitchen or well honed knives.

    VERY GOOD SHARPENER

    Posted by GRANT.E on 12th Dec 2016

ONE OF MY LADS BOUGHT THIS FOR ME XMAS 2015 SO JUST A YEAR OLD. IF IM HONEST I DONT USE IT THAT MUCH NOW SINCE I GOT THE WICKED EDGE SYSTEM BUT UP UNTIL THEN I WAS ALWAYS ON IT. BRILLIANT ON RECURVES WHICH THE WICKED EDGE ISN'T. RODS CLEAN UP EASY ENOUGH[SOAPY WARM WATER] IN FACT THEIR STILL GOING LIKE NEW .SIMPLE TO USE , EASY STORAGE AND RELATIVELY LOW COST. CANT FAULT IT ,BUT SOME OF THESE NEWER STEELS ARE A BIT MORE DEMANDING,LIKE I SAID GREAT ON RECURVES, OPINALS AND MOST POPULAR STEELS. CHEERS H.H

    Masters Edge

A real upgrade from Lansky. It has 9" rods. They push very firmly into the rubber base. They aint going nowhere. This is a very well thought out system. I still like the turnbox versions. I prefer to sharpen my carbon steel blades on Lanskys. I always get very good results. In fact the most sharp of all my carbon steel fixed blades, was sharpened on a Lansky. Mind you, I put the work in, 2 days !

    Excellent

I have used many sharpening tools over the years but have always stuck to the traditional oil stone to clean up my blade edges until I needed to sharpen many blades in a short time that's where this Lansky comes in. A friend of mine has the wooden block model which has served him well for years so I opted to buy this model instead and I am glad I did. This is a truly effective piece of kit and quickly and easily brings you blade to a highly professional finish and level. Great service and product from Heinnie Haynes - top notch

    Excellent tool sharpener

Posted by Ed on 21st Jun 2014

This is after a lot of review reading, the sharpener I've chosen based upon the fact that the wooden Lansky's had lots of problems with the right fit of the sharpening rods and the slightly longer rods than the Spyderco rods, which are better for sharpening longer knives. The Lansky's Masters Edge is everything I expected it to be, exact fit of the rods and far better ease of sharpening than I dared to hope for. Make sure however that you work the rods upfront with a sanding sponge or such to work in the rods, once that has happened enter into sharpening heaven. Why did I rate it 4 star? An Extra Coarse rod and an Ultra-Fine rod are to complete this sharpening tool to be up to (almost) every sharpening job. For instance serrated blades can be done but only the wider serrations.! Nevertheless a very fine and durable sharpening tool. Which I therefore highly recommend to anyone.!

    Fantastic Product

Posted by wearetheunknown on 16th May 2014

Just arrived, very quickly as usual, fantastic HH service. The sharpner is every bit as good as i hoped it would be, well made with clear instructions and good packaging. I have used to put a fantastic edge on my 1990's SOG stingray, which has never been easy to do. it was quick and easy to use and i was happy with the result. I was going to get a Spyderco tri cut, but I think I am more than happy with this instead, it gives you the choice of three different degree settings instead of two. I needed to get something decent to keep my Chris Reeve Sebenza in check and this will be fine.
