Kizer WPK Folding Knife 18

Solidly made and attractive finish. The stubby wharncliff blade is ideal for a UK-legal folder as it's less intimidating yet still effective. It came hair-popping sharp out of the box, which included a drawstring pouch and a nice cleaning cloth. There's not much friction on the fold, so with a bit of practice you can flick it open it in a single fast motion; needs care to close it without it snapping shut, but with the correct motion (using the projecting lever) it's very controlled even with one hand. The titanium scales are nicely bevelled for comfort and are quite thick (~3mm) giving it quite a bit of weight for its compact size (folded, it fits entirely in my closed fist). The projecting lever is unusual and perhaps affects the attractiveness of the shape, but it's certainly a practical design for a safer friction folder. The clip is neat and quite stiff for a secure grip. The only thing I miss is a lanyard hole.

This really is a fantastic knife. Lovely to hold, lovely to use, holds an edge really well and due to the design it WILL NOT fold on you while still being totally UK legal. This has led me to doing jobs that I would not do with other folders. Genuinely thought about buying another to put in a drawer just in case! Amazing, never stop selling this knife!

I’ve been on the lookout for a decent knife I can carry everyday in the UK. I have been using a generic pen knife but wanted something a bit better! Considered a number of different knives and narrowed it down to this and the Spyderco UKPK but settled on this one (I may end up with a Spyderco at some point as well!!). This one is well within the limits of what’s allowed in the UK which makes carrying it feel a bit more comfortable. Whilst it is a bit smaller than some blades it certainly doesn’t feel too small. It’s got a really sturdy feel to it and feels incredibly well made. Very easy to open and close. Nice and sharp blade for everyday tasks and slips nicely into my pocket. Really pleased with this! A surprisingly chonky piece of kit, definitely heavier than I expected considering the titanium scales, but you also get a good chunk of S35VN steel. I'm not normally a fan of the Wharncliff blade shape, but I do like friction folders and this one ticks all the boxes. Having carried it and used it for a few days, I'm very happy with it.
