Is there a better ring lock, light weight, reasonably priced pocket knife on the market? We don't think so!
Working out of Palaçoulo in Portugal the father and son team of Jose da Cruz create knives of outstanding quality and practicality. They are notable by the use of a heavyweight brass ring lock that secures the blade in the open position, no puny stainless or aluminium that over time loosens and becomes less effective.
The Jose da Cruz Clip Tigerwood INOX features a compact, streamlined clip point blade made from INOX stainless steel. It is extremely sharp out of the box and makes for a highly versatile and handy blade. The handle is tigerwood with a lined lanyard hole.
Fits the small leather sheath. See below.

The downside to this knife is that it is difficult (read almost impossible without wrenching your nail from your finger) to open with the nail nick. A set of pliers is what I've resorted to, to open the blade. Perhaps with some lubricant it may be possible to open it more easily. The positives once open is that blade is slicey and sharp and the Brass ring seems robust in comparison to a similar Opinel. Shame its so stiff
Small and light. Very sharp out of the box. Well made. Silky smooth wood handle. The knurled brass locking ring is very good. It had some very sharp edges and corners because of the knurling, but a couple of stoikes with a fine file sorted them out. All in all a very nice reasonably priced little knife to slip in your pocket.
I've bought the Oak and the Tigerwood variations. They are both beautiful little knives but lose two stars because the hinges are so stiff. Using the nail nick to open one cost me the end of a nail !
Firstly I don't know how you guys do it ,ordered at 4 pm Fri and was in my hand 10:30 sat am you guys really are the best ,now the knife is an absolute beauty opinel on steroids I read and couldn't agree more just a different league beautifully made and great to use , can't wait till you have more in stock as this won't be my last ,keep up the great work
Opinel on steroids, I can't help but to compare the 2 but there's many differences. The blade does not lock closed and is thicker, I really like it and have already bought another 4 varients , no doubt I will end up with the whole set :)
