John Ek wanted to contribute to the American war effort during World War II. From his shop in Hamden, Connecticut, Ek built custom knives specifically for soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines. He even built a knife for the Commander-in-Chief, American President Franklin Roosevelt.
Americans have carried Ek Commando Knives in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, and countless other locations in between. John Ek’s knives live on today through Ek Commando Knife as a testament to his ideas, skills, and unflinching patriotism.
KA-BAR's third introduction into the John Ek Commando Knife Co. product line is the highly regarded John Ek Bowie Model 5. This updated version of the traditional knife with hilt is made from 1095 Cro-Van and features a parkerized bowie blade, textured glass-filled nylon handles and traditional X-head fasteners. A US-made Celcon sheath with retaining strap, self-locking function and multiple tie-down points is also included.
