Gerber Flatiron Aluminium Folding Knife 18

Again a great service from Heinnie Haynes, quickly responded to email about the knife and very fast delivery. I bought the knife for wood carving and food prep, its remarkably sharp, passed my arm shaving test, slicing toilet roll and a receipt into perfect wee slivers with no tearing. It’s well made, the blade is bang centre and seems evenly ground, sits remarkable comfortably in the hand, when open its rock solid and feels almost like a fixed blade, it’s weighty but feels good and well balanced great if you’ve got big hands, so far great for food prep. It has exceeded my expectations after reading many reviews online prior to purchasing. I’m no knife expert but would certainly recommend this for the camp kitchen.

Really striking knife to look at and good and weighty in the hand. I have large hands and this fills mine. Blade was not shaving sharp and struggled with paper but, after application of my Lansky Turnbox (also HH supplied) it is much improved. It drops a star only because the liner lock can apply too-far over and there is a struggle to release it. If it doesn't give after a month or so I'll (gingerly) apply a fine file... Bought for on-the-go food prep and great for that purpose.

cant fault the blade, love it! sharp out the box, different but functional. its the handle i dont like. it just doesnt feel right and i dont like the balance of it. but as i say, cant fault the blade, and the service from hennies is brilliant as usual1

First of the bat, this thing is great to look at. The stone wash is a nice look for the style, the aluminium has a smooth satin feel, the G10 is grippy but doesn't feel harsh or rub too much. Sharpness, shaving sharp from new and keeps a good edge without being hard to sharpen. How is it in the hand you ask? Whether you chopping with a saber grip, choked up with you finger in that choil (my prefered) it's secure and sturdy. It is weighty, but it isn't heavy, it feels solid and well built. The blade is well centred and has a good lock up (not that it's needed with the choil). However, I will say that the pocket clip is pretty tight but on the upside discrete. It open smooth but need breaking in, maybe a bit of a tweek but it's such a minor detail when you think of the value. HH best service as always! Never stop recommending them, and really hooked me up!
