    Amazing value

Amazing blade for the money! Very sharp and comfortable. I just don't like the sheath, it's harder to put the blade in because of the internal structure but it retains well and is unobtrusive overall.

    Tough Solid Outdoor Utility

Posted by Daniel Sharpe on 2nd Feb 2024

I bought this to compare to its sibling, the Ganzo 806. This has a 10 mm shorter but 1mm wider blade, and in 9Cr14MoV as opposed to the 8Cr14MoV of the 806. Both are extremely sharp and cut well. The thicker, wider blade combined with a swedge should provide for more effective drilling, prying and piercing with the tip. The handle, whislt also very grippy and of similiar materials is also designed differently and fits the hand better for deep push cuts. These factors suggests to me that this model is going to work better as a bushcraft utility knife, whereas the 806 is a more general utility/food prep knife. As to other features, there is a very good sized lanyard hole, the sheath is great once again, fits snugly with no rattle yet draws easily. There's a drainage hole at the tip of the sheath and what may be another lanyard hole towards the tip on the cutting edge side. If this is designed as a lanyard hole it's badly designed as the blade will slice through the lanyard when sheathed. If it isn't designed as a lanyard hole, and because of how the blade seats through it I wonder if the hole may have some cord/line/wire cutting application? Regardless this is another great fixed blade from Ganzo. I prefer the looks of the 806 but I think this is probably the better overall utility knife, mainly because of the stronger tip. I'd absolutely choose this over most Mora and Hultafors knives.
