Unique, Effective + Expensive
As beautifully made as you would expect - the Tan handle colour is better in my opinion as it doesn't whiten like the Black E/R handles do - this doesn't effect their function at all its just cosmetic. This knife will do everything - Chops, obviously, but the high flat grind feathers and carves well too - the dual position handle design allows this to be done easily. The sheath is fine - well made and strong. It just comes down to price really - there are numerous big camp knives out there - all brilliant if they're from one of the specialist outfits. I would say this wins on its power to weight ration - held in the choked position its maneuverable and agile - at the end handle position it swings controllably allowing the weight to do the work - not many of the contemporaries have this versatility - being ether one or the other: chopper or carver - making them either too big or undersized. If you want one simple quality tool to minimize carried weight and declutter the current multi blade approach to outdoor work then this is it. Beautifully designed, ground, assembled and guaranteed for life.
