If I was to be placed in a survival situation and only allowed one tool, that tool would be a knife, and that knife would be the Esee 6. The Esee 6 is a knife that can do it all. This is a large solid heavy beast of a knife, yet doesn't feel heavy due to the great balance. Hair shaving sharp out of the box, and the 1095 steel keeps a great edge, Esee are know for their excellent heat treat. This knife can do heavy duty tasks with ease. Light chopping and battoning not a problem, but also it can do finer bushcraft work, especially using the finger choil. The gimping is also good not too aggressive. The micarta scales are great, very grippy when wet or dry. The scales are fairly squarish, personally I find them very comfortable and the squarish nature helps stop the knife twisting in the hand when using force. The latest version has "3D" handles which are much more rounded. I think Esee have watched companies like the Knifeconnection.com selling a ton of Esee 6s with custom rounded scales and have followed suit. Personally I was more than happy with the square scales. I prefer uncoated blades but Esee coat their 1095 which is prone to rust, but the coating is very good quality and very durable. Polymer sheath is nothing fancy but very solid and the knife fits very well into it with a solid click. I wanted a do it all large fixed blade knife, I considered the Becker BK7 which is by all accounts an excellent knife, and the Ontario RAT7, designed by Randalls Adventure Training the same as the Esee 6, it is more affordable than the Esee but the reviews I watched generally said the fit and finish was not quite as good as the Esee. I challenge you to go on Youtube and find a bad review of this knife, I don't think you will. I can't really fault this knife in anyway, you won't be disappointed if you buy one.
Solid big knife, careful as it's sharp, shallow cut my finger, luckily nothing serious, it is heavy because of all the metal used, but feels just right and it balances good when holding it, it's coated with a thick black coating, so when slicing not quite same as big kitchen chef knives for slicing but better than thick survival knives, expensive it is, need to use ediible oil on fine cuttimg edge to protect against corrosion. Excellent service and delivery.
I received this knife from my wife at Christmas. To say I was pleased would be an understatement. Its everything you need in a knife. it may have only seven previous reviews but you cant really add anything as its already been said.
I have had this knife for several years now and it is still one of the best knife purchases I have made. It is an exceptional large outdoor knife which can handle anything that you throw at it with ease. Very well built with a high quality steel that hold an edge incredibly well. The knife coating is very hard wearing, mine is only slightly scuffed after a lot of hard use. The sheath is also of excellent securely holding the blade. All round very good.
Wow. What can I say. This knife is a beast the handles are so grippy especially when wet. The knifes overall finish is superb. Can not wait for the weekend so can do real testing. The knife comes with a good sharp edge straight out the box. Also I cannot fault the service heinnie provided. It was out standing, I ordered the knife at 4.30pm on Wednesday and it turned up 9am on Thursday. Now that's first class service from heinnie haynes. Looking forward to purchasing more products in the future. I'm a very pleased customer thanks Hennie haynes
Originally I thought his might be a little on the large side for some tasks but after having it for 6 months and using it for camping, shelter building, batoning fire wood and I've even chopped a deer up with it , it still impresses me how versatile it is. I rub it down with silicon gun oil before I take it out and it's still perfect with not a blemish of rust on it . The edge stays razor sharp after a a full weekend of using it and will still shave the hairs off your arm afterwards . Amazing knife just buy one you'll love it !
A classic fixed blade. Beautifully made by Rowen in the USA. Blade 6.5" including the ricasso. Handle 5" long. Stock 4.95mm thick. Mine arrived with a clip-plate, but I might use something else. HH stock most options. The resin scabbard is first class, and offers a firm click-fit. I am very pleased with my purchase.
Just finished testing my RC6 from ESEE. It's been a long time since I've taken to a knife so quickly. This could well be close to the perfect all rounder - great handle, great sheath, great blade shape. It's a big knife but still controllable. Feather sticks are no problem although delicate carving is probably beyond a blade this deep. If I had to level any criticism it would be the rather flimsy bet clip although I'd say its adequate rather than poor. Also the blade coating makes using a fire steel a problem, although as it wears that might improve. Great service from HH as usual.
