A featherweight build for whatever ends up on the camp menu. When even just the slightest extra weight matters, the CRKT Biwa /bee-wah/ lightweight hunting and fishing fixed blade knife is choice. At only 45g (1.6oz), it tucks away as inconspicuously as a few extra dry flies but comes out swinging when a high-alpine trout hits your line.

Designer Alan Folts of Melbourne, Florida created the custom knife that was to become the Biwa™ after weathering pressure from his minimalist hunting friends to create a do-it-all hunting knife that weighs as little as possible. Named after a species of Japanese trout, the Biwa hits the mark.

The long distal taper on the satin-finished blade is a powerhouse for paring, capping, and more. When met with the checkering on the G10 handle, it’s crafted so that you’ll know just where the blade is even if the whole knife sinks out of sight. A strong, injection-molded sheath lashes easily to a pack or quickly becomes a neck knife.

Creatures of the wilderness, beware.

    CRKT Biwa

Posted by Mike on 30th Apr 2023

Yet another great knife from Columbia River. I am a big fan of thier knives generally and have a growing number of thier knives in my collection. I think the balance of quality and value for money is spot on. I wanted the CRKT Biwa neck knife mainly for food prep around camp as its always to hand. The knife was shaving sharp straight from the box and it is a beautiful looking little knife. Great service from Heinne as usual, many thanks. The reason i only gave 4 stars was because of the kydex sheath. Im not a big fan generally of kydex sheaths anyway but the knife doesn't lock into place very well and is likely to fall out if carried around the neck.I knew that this was going to be the case as i had read previous reviews stating the same concerns but no problem as i make my own leather sheaths anyway. So after doing so i am very pleased with the knife.

    Neck knife ?

Posted by Chriss Wagstaff on 15th Mar 2022

So I bought this on a whim and despite a couple of issues I do like this knife. First big issue… the sheath isn’t a great fit with a concerning amount of free play. I wanted to wear this as a neck knife in the field kitchen. I don’t feel confident that the knife will stay in its sheath wearing it hung from my neck. Second issue. After use in field kitchen, I washed with regular dish soap and left to dry on the drain board. Morning came and so did the rust. Only surface rust which did clean up with the abrasive side of the kitchen sponge. Note to self, dry off before bed and maybe a little olive oil to stop this happening. Other than that, I really like this knife. Beautifully designed for small tasks. I peal veg, cut small cuts of meat & this puppy cuts cheese like I was hoping it to do. The design is great, the sheath, not so. The steel, don’t neglect. The ease of use… just enjoy. 3 out of 5 stars only because I wanted a neck knife. Don’t feel confident wearing around my neck. Sort the sheath and I’d give it a solid 5out of 5.

    Nice tiny blade

Nice small knife. Actually smaller then I thought but it makes it handy neck knife. It is very light and comfortable in hand. Only one thing is that blade could be a bit thinner to makes it perfect for paring and slicing but it's just my preference. Generally nice little blade.

    CRKT BIWA

Posted by David Hamer on 5th Mar 2021

I've never been a fixed blade fan but thought I'd get this as I like CRKT and it was only £40ish. So pleased I gave it a chance! Lovely little knife, feels great in the hand. Small but good size for around the house carry; blade came well sharpened and handle has no rough edges and feels good in the hand. For the price this is a no brainer. I like the sheath, only thing I would have liked is a 'clip on' sheath rather than a belt loop - but that's just my preference, not an issue with the knife. Great knife for the money! ....and as usual, HH supernatural fast service etc. etc.

    CRKT Biwa

First off HH service 10/10 next day delivery free of charge ! This is my first CRKT knife, I loved the design as soon as I saw it announced and I can see it becoming one of my favourites. Quality control at CRKT must be good, the fit and finish is excellent and the knife was very sharp straight out of the box. The supplied moulded sheath that you can belt or neck carry is good with just the right amount of positive retention for it to hang safely around your neck. Note that this a small knife, the slim G10 handle is a 3 finger grip for me with average sized hands. If you have big paws it may be a bit lost in your hands.
