Great to see this in a new steel
For years I had been hoping Cold Steel would bring their more affordable (than 3V) SK5 version of the Recon Scout back, but bringing it back in 52100 is even better. As with most Cold Steel knives, the finish is good, all very functional and the balance is perfect. This is a good versatile larger blade, better at chopping than the SRK, better at fine work than it's big bro the Trail Master - a great all round filed knife ... if a little on the heavy side depending on what else you have to carry. This has a spine wide enough be a bench, but the full flat grind makes it easy to do delicate cuts - and it makes a good splitting wedge. It would work great as a large, but not too large, camp knife, so long as you don't mind the tactical full guard. It's a tried and tested design.
