    Cold steel Finn Wolf

Posted by Dave C on 15th Jul 2024

Inspired to buy from all the reviews I've seen that beat the c**p out it and claim it to be as strong as a fixed blade. They're not wrong, this is a great knife that's sharp out the box, has outperformed a knife twice its price and I can easily see taking the place of a fixed blade for 95% of tasks. The lock can a bit awkward to release at first but wears in quick enough. Steel holds up very well would have anything AUS8 again. The lack of metal liners doesn't hold it back and it doesn't feel too light or flimsy. It's a relatively cheap dependable workhorse of knife. If you're here reading it's reviews your half decided so I would say just go for it you won't be disappointed. Great service and delivery from HH came earlier than anticipated and intend buying from here again.

    The Finn Wolf

Posted by john on 19th Oct 2023

I'm far from being any kind of expert but I know what Like, and like this knife I like It's lightweight has solid lock up with no play in the blade comfortable to use and sharp from the box. At the moment using in place of a fixed blade in my day pack. certainly worth considering as an alternative to say a mora as a lightweight pack knife.

Light but very strong , good ergonomics , well made with no defects , the heart treatment is more on the soft side .

    Solid fixed blade substitute

Posted by Jonathan Martin on 14th Aug 2021

All my knives are UK legal EDC, so no lockers. I do backwoods camping from time to time and decided to buy either a locker or a fixed blade. Big trouble with a sheath knife, though, is all my camping trousers have integrated belts, so nowhere to hang a sheath! Reading and watching many reviews of this knife convinced me to give it a go as the next best thing... and they weren't wrong. As others have said, it comes hair-popping sharp out of the box, and it did all the usual wood bashing bushcraft jobs with no trouble on camp - it even did a decent job of slicing tomatoes for our burgers - then went back in my pocket where I didn't really notice it any different to a chunky slipjoint. (I took the clip off as I don't like them in general, and this one seemed to present the knife the wrong way around to my hand.) The lock is certainly firm, but I had no difficulty with it, even from the first use. I've given 4 stars; I'd like to give 4.5 really - the handle lets it down ever so slightly for me. It is a plastic moulding and while it does the job just fine and will probably last forever, I'd just like a little more stiffness/weight to it. I'm being really picky here though, especially given the very very reasonable price! Overall, a very good knife for actually using - sharp, strong and reliable enough to use and trust; cheap enough that you're not worried about spoiling it if you do use it :)

    Lightweight night

Great size knife, razor sharpe from the box and most weight in the blade so feels lightweight

    Fantastic sturdy scandi folder

Posted by Jonny Landbeach on 26th Jul 2021

This folder seems to fill a market gap and at the same time does so with Cold Steel's unique, lightweight yet tough design approach at a very low price. The action is a bit stiff at first and the lack of a significant ricasso or unsharpened area is a bit sketchy safety-wise but if you close it twohanded with the thumb bolts well-gripped then it should't be a problem. The blade steel is pretty good and will get you through most tasks. This knife would do well as a survival kit item or even as a one knife solution in a relatively safe wilderness (i.e no wildpigs, bears, fire-prone forests requiring a survival chopper, jungle needing a machete etc). Only real issue with the knife is the plastic is not totally flush and has a 0.1mm sort of gap for about a cm on the back.. but it's not really much of an issue as the whole knife is securely bolted together. The knife folds small and one can stash it in a shirt pocket. Some folk have issues with the tightness of the pocket clip but it works due to it's shape though the steel of said clip is cheap steel and seems to have battered up already. Overall a nifty bit of kit that takes away the hassle and weight of a sheath.

HH gave me the same great service and delivery as always. The Finn Wolf is better than I expected. A simple but reliable design with a razor sharp blade. Well worth having.

    A little gem.

Posted by Craig on 2nd Jan 2021

Great service and delivery as usual from HH. I gifted this to myself for Xmas and am so pleased I did. It’s a simple looking knife as so many are from cold steel but is very functional. Sharp as a razor out of the box with the feeling of strength and reliability in the hand. Worth every penny
