I have owned my black bear for a good few years now, it was the first knife l ever bought from Heinnie Haynes. This is quite possibly the greatest value big knife/machete available anywhere in the world. It's exceptionally tough and robust, it's well put together and you will give up long before this knife does !!! The best thing about this knife is that it bridges the gap between so many different types of knives and excells at so many different tasks, this is the one knife to take out with you that saves you carrying multiple knives. Delivery from UPS was 7 days. UPS fault not heinnies. Knife came today. It's sharp and well oiled. It's not fancy, no bells and whistles with this thing. It's a work horse designed to do a job. If you want it razor sharp and flashy polished blade you'll have to give it a bit of TLC. I was impressed, really impressed. I still use my MOD survival knife that I was issued with. But this thing will easily replace it. Good grip, solid blade not to big to use and not to small to be of no use. A damn good bit of kit. Like I said it's a work horse. If you want flashy pay more. This is fine for clearing, chopping, hammering, batoning basically everything. Well worth the money.

Great service from HH, this was delivered the next day. I have a very large pampas grass to remove and already have a large Kukri but picked up the Bowie as a bit of fun. It slashed and cut with no effort. Probably not a good edc but use this tool for the purpose it was made and you won’t be sorry.

Underwhelmed when I first saw it for real, that quickly turned to seeing it's potential. A quick hone, and it took a razor edge and feels tough as old boots. Looking into ways to improve the grip on the somewhat slick handle, and this will become an excellent value and a favourite big blade. Service from Heinnie first class as ever.

I've really abused this knife and can confirm that it Survives beautifully. The only use this knife isn't suitable for is removing ingrown toenails, it works fine for everything else. It even throws nicely, sticks more often than my specialist Kookaburra pair. A very useful knife and cheap enough that the wife might not notice....
