Carinthia MIG 4.0 Jacket

The MIG 4.0 from Carinthia is an ideal cold weather jacket for harsh environments. It's probably not as warm as a thick down jacket, but the synthetic G=Loft insulation in the MIG allows the jacket to breath better when you're working hard and it out performs down when it's cold. The fabrics used are durable and the jacket is filled with well thought out features. The chest pockets are quite high, but nice and large and fleece lined allowing hands to be warmed. A second set of smaller lower pockets would have been a nice addition, but not essential. The arm pockets are handy and are equipped to hold small brass items very nicely. I was a little unsure about sizing considering other reviews, so called HH and their staff were incredibly helpful. Being 6 foot and 41" chest I'm a size L in the ISG 2.0, but the advice was to go down to a size M in the MIG. I'm glad I did. It still allows enough room for proper layering or even a thin Rag Microlite Alpine down jacket underneath for when it's really cold. I'm looking forward to putting the jacket though its paces.

Got this jacket on line from an Austrian website 2 years ago after seeing a documentary about the Royal Marines in Norway, I made various enquiries and found this was the jacket they wore on exercise.Hating the cold I went for overkill and bought one .In depths of winter here in Midlands UK minus 10 or so sometimes. This jacket is like central heating I only ever need a t shirt under it and that is only for hygiene reasons. Amazingly it never seems to get sweaty.It has a great range of movement though the shoulders are rather square ( I think this is to allow for the wearing of a ballistic vest ) Its on its second winter it shows no signs of wear and appears very well made. been through and stationary in a few storms and it kept me dry. Light for its size. Comes up a size bigger than stated again to allow for ballistic vest I suppose , order a size down to normal . Expensive but this is an ice and rain beater.Impressive
