John Kubasek is already known to many as the designer of the successful Credit Card Knife. John Kubasek has now taken the "Backup Knife" topic one step further and presents the 24 gram light-weight Dog Tag Knife. Like its namesake, it is carried around the neck on a ball chain and boasts a thickness of less than 4 mm when retracted (measured without blade pivot point). The chisel grind (single-sided blade grind) provides maximum carrying and operating safety by contacting the titanium liner as closely as possible with the flat backside of the edge.

A clever magnetic mechanism also secures the blade in the retracted and deployed state; in each case, the action is strictly accomplished with magnetic force, but with a true locking mechanism instead. As a result, accidental deployment is eliminated even when engaged in active/dynamic activities. The back side of the titanium liner is ideally suited for laser engraving of the name, nickname, medical data, etc. Shipped with ball chain and carabiner.

    Dog tag neck knife

Posted by Allan McCready on 17th Dec 2021

Great little emergency back up blade that might come in useful if you have no access to your main cutting blade. The lock shut design makes it safe to wear and allows you to forget its there, unlike other bulkier l, heavier fixed blade neck knives. Its very discrete and easy to conceal. The blade is very sharp and locks open quite securely. Its definitely not a toy and is very capable. If you didn't want to wear it, it might be a useful addition to a first aid kit as it can be opened and used using either hand. Definitely worth the money.

    Pleasantly Surprised !!

Posted by Moving Shadow on 4th Jun 2021

Great materials and design - was initially sceptical of Boker+ (wary of non-Solingen product's fit/finish quality control), but this is a great knife for the price and hones razor sharp!

    Worth every penny

Posted by Alan on 30th May 2018

I'm fairly new to collecting but I think it would be fair to say that this little gem is great value for the money. Ok, the blade isn't razor sharp but that can be easily rectified. The Titanium looks great and it comes in a quality Boker display case which I wasn't expecting. My order was processed and delivered super fast too... Thanks to the people at HH. I'm a new customer to Heinnie Haynes and have only made a few orders up to now but I'll definitely be back for more goodies.

    Lovely little thing

Posted by Campfire on 29th Jul 2017

The broad blade, chisel grind and firm lock makes this little knife perform well above its tiny weight and footprint. The titanium 'body' makes for a reasonable grip too. I am not sure that it is physically possible to get more knife into so tiny a format. Particularly good for fine work but sufficiently large for general use. ShefieThe magnet is reassuringly strong for its job, but might affect anything sensitive to magnets if carried nearby. Brilliant service from HH as usual.

    Not UK legal Carry

Posted by Martin on 24th Oct 2016

For the previous reviewer Barry this is not UK legal carry as it has a Button lock. I stated this in my review below...The Spyderco original Dog Tag is though

    Not sure

Posted by Barry on 17th Oct 2016

Hi guys, is this neck knife legal to carry on the UK, I'm thinking due to the locking mechanism it could be an issue? Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Interesting

Posted by Martin on 6th Oct 2016

Mine arrived today as usual lightning delivery from HH. I did think from the illustration that the position of the hole for the chain may be an issue and I was correct its great when its round your neck but in use the chain gets in the way. Mine was supplied with a right angle torx wrench with two different sized ends not sure why but they do not fit anything not even the little stud in the body. Unless that has been damaged on assembly. When I read the description I tried to get my head round this magnetic bit wondering if this was UK legal carry, its not. The little button is a spring loaded magnet which needs depressing to open the blade and clicks in place to lock the blade the reverse being needed to shut the knife. I think at the price its a good buy if you compare it to the Spyderco Dog Tag which I also have at almost three times the price. The Spyderco though is UK EDC. I think two holes in the body opposite end to the pivot one either side and the chain passing along the back and it would work better. Now where is my Drill.
