Very, very tight. It was suggested that using a hairdryer on the sheath to soften it and insert the knife several times to loosen it. My dagger became trapped in the sheath and I had to spend half and hour, heating and prying the sheath apart with a screwdriver and trying to jerk the dagger out. It was very dangerous and the sheath is bent out of shape. Luckily my dagger’s surface wasn't scratched. I wouldn’t recommend this sheath for the Applegate-Fairbairn dagger.
