Description

Returning exclusively to Heinnie, the Boker Coffin Ultem, designed by Chuck Gedraitis, brings back a Boker favourite with a tonne of character and properly modern materials.

The coffin-shaped handle scales are made from semi-transparent Ultem, a high-performance polyetherimide amorphous thermoplastic known for its exceptional heat resistance, high strength, rigidity, and chemical resistance. The crisp pyramid texture adds grip without feeling fussy. It sits comfortably in the hand and looks unlike anything else in your pocket. The drop-point blade is MagnaCut, heat treated to around 61–62 HRC, chosen for its excellent edge retention, corrosion resistance and easy maintenance. A decorative ricasso adds a touch of refinement without getting in the way of work.

This is a slip-joint with a 90-degree stop, opening via a traditional nail nick. A deep-carry, tip-up stainless steel clip keeps things discreet.

    Boker Coffin Ultem

Posted by John from Ilkley.. on 7th Feb 2026

Absolutely superb knife, fit and finish is great, the Ultem is unusual, and apparently "b**b proof*, the scales are ultra high traction, due to the pyramid design,, the blade was extremely sharp out of the box,, The opening and closing has perfect tension, and it in no way feels as though it would close up on you accidentally.. The" long pull" nail nick is perfection, and under magnification resembles a long V shaped trench, so doesn't tear up your thumb nail, but provides a secure opening method.. And now to the best bit,, this is probably as big a knife as we can legally have in England, the cutting edge is a tiny fraction under 3", and this knife dwarfs the ukpk,, providing so much more usefulness,, I had thought the pocket clip might be uncomfortable, but it's perfect, and unobtrusive,,.. The blade is "belt finished" satin, and the pocket clip is mirror polished. So, long story short,, it's big, it's light, it's razor sharp, and it's UK legal,, so you can stick it in your pocket, carry it without noticing, and not be afraid of carrying something illegal,, absolute belter of a knife,, (imho),,

    Boker Ultem

Posted by Philip Parkinson on 4th Feb 2026

Ordered this knife as I didn't have anything in MagnaCut and I liked the look of it, plus UK friendly. Very happy with my purchase. The blade was evenly ground and just shy of shaving sharp. Overall fit and finish was perfect. Scales grippy but also comfortable. Very lightweight for a 3" blade. Nail nick is fine. Knife has a very slight bullnose as the swedge extends to the tip (making it stronger). Obviously quality steel. Not a huge fan of the pocket clip but easily removed if not your thing. Overall a very impressive slipjoint made of modern materials.

Great trad looking knife with modern materials

Posted by Chris on 3rd Feb 2026

The ultem is gorgeous, really grippy an nice to hold. The blade design is a classic and looks really elegant and traditional while still being top end materials. There was some machine grime around the backspring - which being semi transparent showed up under the scales. It was easy enough to remove the scales and clean, really pleased with this knife now. Tolerances and blade fit are all really good though.

    BOKER COFFIN ULTEM

Posted by Shaun Fox on 30th Jan 2026

Overall the knife looks and feels good, build quality is to a good standard. The Ultem scales are pleasant and the pyramid pattern on them is grippy. The Magnacut is a nice blade material but unfortunately it was reasonably blunt when it arrived, easy to sharpen though. It opens and closes smoothly although the nail nick is close to the scales and if you have weak nails or podgy fingers, like me, this might be an issue. My thumb nail is already hurting. Usual great service from HH but now there seems to be a slight problem with delivery, I used to have them delivered to my local shop but recently that is not an option I’m getting offered and now have to drive a 12 miles round trip to the nearest collection point, three villages away. I knocked a star off for the blunt blade and poorly paw due to lack of blade grab.
