Barebones Hori Hori Classic Garden Tool 18

I've had this hori for well over a year now and have frankly only used it a handful of times when I don't have access to my other hori because it is not fit for purpose. This blade, whilst incredibly aestheticly pleasing, does not operate as a functioning gardening tool. The blade is far too thick, and the tip blunt, making it almost impossible to penetrate the ground and leaver out the roots of any weed. The thickness means it can't even be used as a pry bar. The only part I found remotely useful was the saw side of the blade. The tool is also very heavy which makes it cumbersome to use.

Despite some concerns after reading reviews, I picked up one of these as it was the cheapest available when you factored in HHs very affordable delivery options. Very impressed with the overall design and build quality, the wood handle is contoured nicely and makes it easy to grip, and the tool has a very good 'heft' behind it. I've removed one star as the bottle opener / twine cutter placement just doesn't make sense to me - would have been far better incorporated into the handle like a rescue knife in my opinion. Overall a rock solid tool that I've already had hours of use from, would recommend.

Really cool bit of making the wife happy with an HH care package. Service as usual from HH is excellent. The knife, trowel, root cutter, bulb planter that this is is really cool, very comfy, nice recess for pinch grip and digging. Good solid steel and nice wide teeth on the saw so can actually be sharpened. Loses one star for fit and finish on the handle. As ever would spend a fiver more to have scales that fit, but they are only wood so after some more use will sand them into exact shape. Purchased for the wife’s gardening and now I want one too! Highly recommend

This is the most useful tool in my garden shed. It is simply fantastic for so many different jobs, I highly recommend this type of tool.... However,,, from new, mine (a gift), was very crude, and needed a lot of work.. I refixed the handle scales with epoxy, severely re-profiled the blade, (especially sharpening the very blunt tip) and generally put right all the rough aspects of the tool.. Having done all that work, this is a totally superb thing of beauty, and the thing I grab first, for many, many, tasks around the garden. Just wanted to give a heads up, that as it comes, it's pretty crude.. (mine was anyway).. Worth every penny, and worth all the work needed to make it into an incredible tool, which will probably last me for my lifetime..

Brilliant in the garden for planting and removing stubborn root bound flowers and trees for pots very happy

Used today for planting bulbs and removing a root bound tree from a clay pot and it worked a treat very happy

A beast, I wish I’d got one years ago, perfect for woody roots etc, handle is well finished and the full tang blade is top job!

Seems well made, pleased with feel of the tool, and to be used for foraging and country duties, IE fencing/hedging
