    A sight for sore eyes

Posted by Derek W. on 10th Jun 2019

In my opinion the Papagayo is a pretty little knife without much in the way of distractions from its function, which is to cut things. Mine wasn't razor sharp out of its presentation tube, but will slide through string, cardboard packaging and fruit without any bother. I shall be spending some time improving the cutting edge, but it does well enough for now.

The handle is nicely grippy due to the black material and its moulded ribs. The blade snaps open with a positive click and, although I have tried to override the lock, it doesn't want to let go. Closure is achieved by using the back lock which is under the rubber on the back of the handle. I have spent a few days with Baladeo's slender offering and found it to be an unfussy knife - perhaps I could liken it to an updated Mercator Black Cat (owned in my late teens and much missed).

Not everyone's cup of tea, I'm sure, but I love the simple lines and light sleekness of this knife which HH delivered with their usual efficiency. Five stars all round.

    Good for the price

    Posted by L on 15th Sep 2016

The quality is acceptable for this price. The edge on the blade isn't even - it's noticeably lacking on the curved section of blade. Still enough to cut but not the best effort. The edge isn't totally smooth either. I note the edgie self sharpening knife has comments around tiny serrations and I'd imagine it's similar to this. Maybe I got a rushed one? There was also a lot of oil/grease around the blade, some of which has stained it around the pivot point. Odd seeing as though it's supposedly stainless steel but I can't shift the mark.

For oddjobbing where you feel safer with a locking blade and don't want to spend a lot it's good. If you can accept a fixed blade then a mora is a much better option. If you want a folding blade and are happy with a non-locking one then spen a bit more and go for a Boker plus tech tool 1- the quality is worlds apart.

i have found this knife to be well worth the money, it does exactly what a small knife is intended to do, i carry it often and love it, i dont hunt Elk or cut down trees with it but i do cut string , peel oranges , cut pork pie, sharpen pencils etc, does just great

    Pretty in Pink

Posted by Schlimm Jim on 28th Nov 2015

I bought this in Pink for my girlfriend. She needed a girly EDC for her bag.
It opens easily without using the nail nick, there is enough blade to grab.
Lock up is solid and secure. Also very pointy and sharp.
The textured rubber grip is comfortable and the lock easy to disengage.

Only the lack of a pocket clip prevents me from carrying it . I have enough "pocket" pocket folders.

The blade is a full hollow grind. That is the grind starts at the spine and ends with a 2nd bevel.
    Interesting and pretty blade.

    Well worth the money.

    Lovely little things

Posted by Mark b on 23rd Jul 2015

Small but with a decent blade and nicely packaged, the VW beetle of knives. Would make a genuinely perfect EDC for almost anyone however UK knife laws were unfortunately crafted by insane, heavy drinking warthogs having a bad day. So the presence of a SAFETY lock makes this tiny inoffensive tool a forbidden *.
