What is a dog tag in the military? 

 

A military dog tag is worn by service members during service. They’re to help identify a person if they’re injured. They will be inscribed with details like service number, blood group, name, and religion, as well as other useful medical information.

 

Do military still wear dog tags?

 

Servicemen are still issued with dog tags today. Often dog tags, like those at Heinnie Haynes, are multi purpose, they can be used for first aid, emergency lock picking, or cordage making, so some people may opt to wear a dog tag to help them with these tasks.
