    Linen Micarta Penguin

Posted by Derek W on 16th Sep 2020

Back ordered, but arrived one week from placing it, so Heinnie manages to get out-of-stock stuff to customers as fast as many other companies who actually do have their merchandise in stock.

Bought the knife is to add to its Jean Micarta counterpart and, for the money (or much more money) you'd be hard pressed to do better. Shaving sharp D2 steel, silky smooth opening from a flick of the thumb, solid lock-up, perfectly centered blade..........look, just buy one (or two, given how inexpensive they are?) and see for yourself.
I doubt you'll regret it if you do.

Punches Well Above It's Price Tag

Bought to replace a twenty year old market knife used for cutting heavy duty cardboard, rope, packing tape and the like. Two weeks of constant use and it's still rock solid, still hair shaving sharp., so very happy indeed. Great service from Heinnie, many thanks

    Astonishing value!

It’s feeling a bit like Christmas at the moment. At the beginning of June I bought the CRKT ‘Piet’ from HH – which is a fantastic little budget folder. Then two days ago, the CJRB ‘Centros’ which I had on order from the USA arrived after a six week wait. And today I received the QSP ‘Penguin’ which I think I ordered from HH in early March! Not quite the normal super-fast delivery thanks to Corona virus,

The ‘Penguin’ is stupidly good value at under £30 delivered. It is an unusual knife with it’s ‘sheepsfoot’ blade (which I have also seen described as a ‘wharncliffe’). Combined with the Jean Micarta scales it is a very attractive package.

The action on my knife is excellent, smooth one-handed opening, solid lock up, and spot-on blade centring. Fairly sharp out of the (very nice) box, but scary after a few strokes of the strop.

I have two very minor negative comments. Firstly, the blade grind on mine is not absolutely symmetrical, but at this price I can forgive it. Secondly, it does strike me as odd that whilst the screws holding the stand-offs sit flush with the handle scales, those for the clip stand quite proud. QSP could take a lesson from the CRKT ‘Piet’ here. But at £26.95 plus delivery there is really nothing to complain about. This a good solid work knife for silly money. Why wouldn’t you buy one?

    Crazy VFM

I was impressed with the QSP Worker when I bought that, but this is even more impressive considering it's price. Amazing knife for the price, smooth as silk action, rock solid lock up, fit and finish is ridiculously good, equal to knives costing well over £100. Buy one, it's a no brainer.
