Is there a better ring lock, light weight, economically priced pocket knife on the market? We don't think so!
Working out of Palaçoulo in Portugal the father and son team of Jose da Cruz create knives of outstanding quality and practicality. They are notable by the use of a heavyweight brass ring lock that secures the blade in the open position, no puny stainless or aluminium that over time loosens and becomes less effective.
Jose da Cruz Black Blade Wood INOX are stunning looking knives with a pleasing streamlined design. They feature black coated, INOX stainless steel blades which are extremely sharp out of the box. The handles are the real tour de force however. There is a choice of wood; Ironwood or an Ebony with a Boxwood insert stripe. Both are very tactile and great looking! A leather lanyard is attached.
Fits the large leather sheath. See below.

Although I was very pleased with the knife when I first received it, now I'm bitterly disappointed in the poor quality and workmanship. After less than 3 weeks of use the blade is locked solid, half open. I've tried using WD40 but after days of trying it refuses to budge. I'm reluctant to use more force or pliers in case the blade snaps or I cut my hand as it's very sharp. I definitely would not buy anything from this manufacturer again - I'll just stick to my cheaper, reliable, Opinel.
I have had this knife for a couple of weeks and love it. It is stiff but it frees up with use. Extremely sharp out of the box. I bought the plain wood grip but I am now going to buy the mixed wood model soon. Great old style knife.
