The Pathfinder Widemouth Military Canteen Cooking Kit was designed so the canteen will nest inside the cup along with the stove for convenient and compact storage. Not all containers are created equal, and in a survival situation, unless your container can withstand direct fire for the purposes of boiling/disinfecting water, the effects of water borne pathogens are quickly going to add to your list of troubles. Continuing to raise the bar, The Pathfinder School has developed the ONLY widemouth stainless steel military canteen on the market today. The widemouth design of this canteen allows you to easily obtain water from the shallowest of water pools, which will help conserve precious calories and energy that can be used to aid in your rescue or to affect your own self-rescue. The nesting cup has a foldable handle that securely fastens the stove to the cup when not in use and has measurement graduations on the inside.

    Pathfinder canteen

Posted by Paul Hockin on 28th Sep 2020

Over all fairly good let down by a poorly design pouch carrier which is of poor quality The canteen itself is excellent wide mouthed and robust Cup is ok but the handle is unstable and easily folds on you Base fuel housing Is excellent add a meths burner or fire

    excellent bottle.......that’s it.

Posted by Steve on 25th Jul 2020

owned this for 3 years. Pro - ( bottle only) holds more than a litre, is a reasonable weight on its own, no leaks, wide mouth is best for wilderness use and it’s of a high quality and a good shape to hold and to use. It’s even More stable than the round-based steel bottles. Con- pouch is very cheaply made and poor quality, cup handle Disengages the flimsy locking system which is dangerous while using hot liquid, cup is uncomfortable and clumsy to hold, bottle has a Seam which across the middle and a rolled inwards lip which makes it slightly harder to clean, the stove is pointless. Conclusion- the bottle is excellent , the cup, stove and pouch are poorly designed afterthoughts which take the overall weight to a gargantuan 800g. Just to put that into perspective the Crusader cup and 58 pattern bottle with a stove and pouch Are half a pound lighter and I would consider those over built. Would I buy it again? The bottle isn’t available on its own... But spending £55 on a steel bottle.....

    Solid kit

Posted by Robert on 26th Jul 2019

I was doubtful about this kit , but a friend said it's really good, Have to say it's solid heavy steel, bulletproof and a fantastic buy. Wouldn't be without it now, I like it so much I bought the bottle and cup to add to my kit, Thanks HH fast delivery as usual and great quality kit

    Good stuff!

Posted by Half-assed Astronaut on 8th Apr 2018

Had mine two weeks, no problems with leaking or rust with mine. The bottle is very good , stove works well with solid fuel as well as wood. The cup is very flimsy and easy to bend with just finger pressure when i fist got it, but after first use it seamed to flame harden and is now much tougher. Before this i had an Ospray NATO water bottle and a BCB crusader cup which i have had for over 12 years. The crusader cup is much better than the pathfinder in my opinion but time will tell how this holds up over time.

Great bit of kit from Pathfinders

Posted by Alex on 17th Mar 2017

Solid construction and everything, except the lid, nestles together ... Just pack the stove into a camp fire and put either the cup or bottle on it and away you go to sterilise water or cook a meal ... The only let down is the bag which isn't that well made ... That said, still highly recommended

    Nice but not good enough!

Posted by TC on 5th Feb 2017

At first, a seemingly well made piece of kit from a well known outdoor equipment specialist. Sadly the kit just doesn't perform to the expectations of a veteran outdoor person! The canteen quickly developed rust at the internal seem, surprising for reputed stainless steel. The cup's handle is clipped into place and WHEN it comes un-clipped it throws half- liter quantities of boiling liquid over you or your camp! That clip is just too easy to dislodge!! The stove element needs to sit on or in an existing fire; you might assume looking at the stove you might be able to treat it like a fire basket and build a small fire inside it. and then perch the cup on top of this, like the crusader system. And finally, the kit packs away inside a fabric carry case which is very poorly made from cheap materials. Very disappointing!! Two stars in this review for at least trying to bring a stainless steel cook system to the outdoor kit market.

You pay premium, but you don't get a premium product

Posted by Faruk on 3rd Feb 2017

My main problem is with the lid. - The threads are really thin and weak. - It is not very easy to match the thread endings when you want to put it on. I guess it will do the job, but after paying this price, I was expecting to have something that doesn't leave me in doubt. I don't have the same feelings for Nalgene or Klean Kanteen bottles for example. They are a lot cheaper, and I think they have higher quality and standards. I kept the product, but I would not recommend it to a friend.
