The colours of the Mora Basic 511 come from the Mora folk dress of the 17th century, which is one of the oldest-known Swedish folk dresses. This is where the green textile meets the classic Dala Red colour. Together, they bring new life to the colour combination that once put the people of Mora on the world map.

The Mora folk dress is still worn by folks on special occasions, like midsummer, weddings, or folk music events. Throughout the years, the dress has undergone few changes and still looks largely the same as it always has. The Mora folk dress and Morakniv are both worn with pride, aligning with the tradition established by the ancestors and the heritage that has been developed and nurtured over the years.

The knife with its ergonomic barrel-shaped polymer handle features a sturdy finger guard and a 2.0 mm thick blade made of carbon steel, which provides both strength and stability in every cut. Manufactured in the knife factory in Mora, Sweden.

    Mora Basic 511

Posted by Tim, Sheffield on 22nd Aug 2024

The 2024 limited edition colour scheme is awesome. Comes razor-sharp as you'd expect from Mora and the service from HH amazing as ever. Regarding the knife itself, blade is quite small and not overly thick. Finishing on the spine of the blade is 'rustic' and needs some right-angle filing to make good for a fire-steel. Comparison with the Hultafors Craftsman https://heinnie.com/hultafors-craftsmans-knife-hvk/, the Mora is a little smaller and almost twice the price (still CaC). The Mora may be a bit less robust in the field for battoning wood than the Hultafors as well. Still, great value quality knife. I've bought three for my Scout Group to go with the five Hultafors I bought last year. Great for young people to learn safe use of knives as a tool in outdoor/bushcraft situations.

For the money this blade is great , I have other knives I've paid 100s of pounds for and these Mora perform just as good .granted they may not last as long as a custom job but what do you want for a tennna ?

Not much to say about moras, they're awesome. I've got loads, but saw this and it's stainless brother, in the colours, so had to get em. Best budget knives in the world imo
