Sharp, attractive but ultimately a failure

Posted by Tom on 10th Apr 2024

I've had this knife for about 6 months. I was sold on the good looks and the generous discount. It was super sharp out the box, and did have a nice weight and action to it. Unfortunately its fit and finish was subpar. A few edges jutted out, and once I notices it lost is shine. However for the low price I decided to overlook it. Recently the action started to seize up, so I decided to take it apart for a deep clean. This was the worst thing I could have done. The blade and clip came off okay, however the central bolt was either cross-threaded or broken in some way as it didn't come out, and just spun in the hole. With the bolt back bening flat and rounded there was no way to grip it properly. Long (very long) story short eventually the bolt was pretty much stripped, the scales ended up scratched and it was impossible to get the blade and its washers back in place with the scales and liners still attached. As you can imagine it now permanently resides in knife purgatory. It may have been a one off dud, but it's really put me off further Gerber products. Heinnie's delivery was it's usual speedy self, however. Win some lose some, I suppose.

    Great knife

Great uk legal knife. Sharp and great looking. Lovely to hold, has a little weight to it and the slip joint is just right. Not to loose not overly tight but I’m confident it won’t snap back on my fingers. Used it and found it to be a great EDC.
