Fox Nihiser MTF-5

MY FIRST KNIFE WITH FOX CAME WITH A TERRIBLE BEVEL WHICH I GOT RIGHT [2 HRS] THAT WAS VERY OFF PUTTING,MY SECOND WAS THE M1 WHICH HAD A REALLY BAD FRAME LOCK ,I MANAGED TO CLOSE IT WITH MY HAND WITHOUT USING THE LOCK. THAT WENT STRAIGHT BACK[SEALED BOX SO H.H DIDNT KNOW} SO SINCE THEN THE TWO KNIVES IVE JUST RECEIVED HAVE BEEN ON MY WISH LIST FOR AGES ,AS NICE AS THEY LOOK I DIDNT TRUST THEM. I BIT THE BULLET AND ORDERED THEM BUT ASKED NICK TO LOOK THEM OVER BEFORE SENDING..NICE ONE NICK!! FIRST KNIFE WAS THE MTF-5 NIHISER ,THE SECOND WAS THE DEIMOS CITIDEL, I HAVE JUST GOT MY TRUST BACK IN FOX KNIVES,BOTH THESE KNIVES ARE EXCELLENT. ABSOLUTELY RAZOR SHARP[AND I MEAN THAT]BOTH CENTAL WITH ROCK SOLID LOCK UP AND BOTH FEEL REALLY NICE. NO SOON AS ID PRESSED THE BUTTON TO PAY THE DEIMOS HAS NOW BEEN TAKEN OFF HEINNIES SITE [LAST ONE..EVER?]THATS WHY IM LEAVING MY REVIEW ON HERE. BACK TO THE MTF-5, FOR £69 THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE VALUE,IN ITS OWN WAY IS A THING OF BEAUTY,QUITE HEAVY FOR THE SIZE[WHICH I LIKE] VERY DARK AND SLEEK,THE SCALES ARE REALLY NICE ,NO WAY THATS SLIPPING. THE FRAME LOCKS SITS FULL ON AND THE BLADE ,WELL I KNOW HOW SHARP YOU CAN GET THIS STEEL BUT AFTER A COUPLE OF TURNS ON THE STROP[IT REALLY DIDNT NEED ANY MORE] THIS THING IS CERTAINLY UP THERE WITH MY SHARPEST AND THAT REALLY IS SAYING A LOT. ALL IN ALL MAYBE I WAS JUST UNLUCKY WITH THE M1,I ALSO HAD THE 479 KARAMBIT A FEWS DAYS AGO,WHICH AGAIN NICK CHECKED AND I LOVE THAT BLADE,SHAVE THE HAIRS OFF A FLY THAT BABY . NOW IF YOU ARE LIKE ME AND YOUR UNSURE ABOUT THIS KNIFE,THEN DONT!! GET IT JUST IN CASE THIS ONE DISAPPEARS ASWELL. YOU REALLY WILL NOT REGRET IT AND I HONESTLY DONT THINK ANYTHING ELSE WILL TOUCH IT FOR £70. WELL DONE FOX KNIVES,AND H.H AND A BIG THANX TO NICK...TIL NEXT TIME.

The blade came smooth and solid out of the box with a hint of left to right play how ever you can tighten the trox screw a little. The blade deploys fast and smooth out of the knife thanks to its strong detent. I can easly flip it out with my left hand and right hand and have no problem with doing it with gloves on to.I have field tested it a little on a camp. The knife came out without a scratch and no rust. The steel on the blade is very rust resistant and takes and holds a edge well. The knife was hair popping sharp out of the box. The G10 texture and handle is both beautiful and functional, best G10 handle out of all my knives. The clip is a little loose but it's quite a big knife and I wouldn't carry it in my pocket anyway. The liner is made out of steel not titanium and is very thick 2-3mm. The grip on the knife is phenomenal there is no way the knife can slip out of your hand. The lockup came 40% of the way into the lock bar. The knife is made in Italy designed by Patrick Nihser. For a heavy duty folding knife you can't go wrong, you can compare this to the ZT350 strength wise however, you are getting the same performance and my personal favourite steel for a smaller price.This knife is a semi frame-liner lock knife and will handle most of your camping tasks other than battening (use a fixed blade).

I saw this knife quite some time ago and waited patiently for someone to write a review, either here or on youtube, but no! I could not find a mention of this knife anywhere, so in the end I just bought it, if you want a strong well built solid folding knife well put together, look no further! I wish more manufacturers used this type of G10 scales, it is textured but not grooved giving a secure grip with a very attractive appearance, it came sharp with a toothy grind which was slightly uneven but easily rectified, to be honest it is my OCD kicking in as the knife is more than usable straight out of the box! As I have only just got it I cannot vouch for its longevity however I would be astounded if it did not survive a nuclear strike! In summary a superb heavy duty pocket knife of excellent quality. I ordered this on 23rd Dec and it came the 24th, remarkable, I have though found a fault with the HH delivery, the tape they use on their boxes is a total bxxxxxd to get of my knife blade!
