    Beautiful Italian showcase product!

    Posted by D.D on 4th Oct 2016

I was a little worried about the knife thickness at the beginning, but N690 is so strong, the small bit lack in thickness is probably no issue. The blade is made very well, good symmetry and excellent balance. Handle is comfortable. The hand made leather sheath is also very nice. I wouldn't say it's faultless, the edge has a little chip/dent on mine, but it's fine since I always take off the factory edge and sharpen it myself, the chip can be removed easily. The handle material is wood, small gap can be observed between the handle and the tan, which is common for wood, but lionsteel certainly do better job than viper. The locking nuts are over turned and worn, I'm a bit disappointed on this as the locking nuts can be easily replaced, they shouldn't let this pass Q.C. without replacing with new nuts. Overall I'm happy with the knife, it's not easy to get a knife with excellent symmetry which is the one thing you cannot fix after the steel is heat threated. The steel is great, holds edge very well. Blade profile is certainly one of a kind and it feels right using.

    Viper Setter

What a lovely product this is ! The scabbard is a quality item, with a 3" belt loop and a detachable retaining strap. The leather is very nice, and it offers a perfect fit. The knife is just beautiful, it has a tapered-tang. The handle scales are very well shaped, and they fit the hand very well. I would have preferred G10 scales, but ebony is just fine.

    Viper Setter Knife Review

Posted by Daniel on 10th Jan 2013

Great balance & feeling in hand, very sharp (shaved hairs off my arm easily). High quality and faultlessly made. Great steel. For cutting as good as high end blades. A beautiful knife but also a real functional knife, perfect for bushcraft & outdoor. I highly rate Viper as a knifemaker and bladesmith and this knife is equal in cutting power to the Bokers I have that I paid £200-£400. See if you can find a better blade for under £100 or even £200.
