    Not for wimps.

I can't really fault the blade, the folding design, or the sheath. It's a solid, robust shovel. The telescoping mechanism is horrible. It's not just that it's somewhat fiddly to unlock it - unfortunately, mine is so tight that it gets stuck between positions, and requires considerable force to shift it. The black coating on the handle was ruined before its first use. Oh, well... I guess a shovel isn't supposed to stay pretty for long. Perhaps it will become looser in time... maybe oiling it will help... but I could see how the ingress of dirt into the handle could make the problem even worse. If there's any way to field strip the thing, it's beyond me. On balance, I'm not exactly unhappy with my purchase, but for the money, I'd have to recommend buying a better shovel.

    Maybe the Best

Posted by Chris on 31st Aug 2016

I ordered a SOG folding shovel, luckily there were none in stock which gave me time to do some research ( which I should have done before placing an order anyway) After watching several reviews it was obvious to me that I had ordered the wrong shovel. One comment was that it was like a folding version of the Spetznaz shovel which I suppose is as good as any description for this very sturdy digging and cutting tool. The sheath is also very +++ well made . I think this shovel for the price is a n extremely good buy. If like me you expect value for your money especially if you have a budget then this folding shovel will give definateley give you what you ask for. This maybe the best folder out there. I suggest that you buy one soon. I want to thank HH for their wonderful service , apart from the amazingly fast delivery even on the tail of a long weekend the staff are very helpfull on the telephone and do their very++++ best to solve any problem or give advice. Five stars for the shovel and 10 for the boys and girls at HH.
