The Real Steel Luna joins the list of another number of Poltergeist works collabs that Real Steel have under their belt. However, this knife is something very very different. The Luna is their first slip joint with Jakub, sporting a complete titanium body, N690 blade and possibly the sweetest action possible on a Real Steel knife!

They designed this knife with EDC in mind. Literally as light as a feather and beyond scalpel sharp, the Luna takes on the traditional conceptions of old dusty, lost in time slip joint designs and takes them to a new level. Jakubs keen eye for everything functional is apparent in the Luna. The extreme lightness of this knife also makes it a wonder for pocket carry. This is coupled with the awsomely designed deep carry pocket clip that can fit smoothly into the pocket, making it a perfect candidate for EDC carry or general knife rotation.

The blade is non-locking and under three inches long making it legal to carry in the UK at the owners discretion.

Not my most expensive, but my favourite

Posted by Matt on 8th Sep 2020

I've got other knives with better steel, other knives that cost more, other knives that do other things. But this knife gives me the same thrill an 8yo gets when they see a sword.
The scales are smooth with chamfered edges which just want to be handled. The blade shape is non threatening, steel more than good enough and the blade is perfectly centered. But more than that everything about it is thought out well. The half stop happens at 25% closed so you can easily get you hand out the way. The logos on the blade (which are suitably discreet) are hidden when the blade is closed. The finish on the blade perfectly compliments the To handles.
And the pocket clip is the best I have ever used or seen. It's super deep carry and it looks just like a pen clip so is inconspicuous. It doesn't catch on the way in or out, it doesn't need assistance to 'lift' it over the pocket. It is positioned on the very tip of the handle which 'falls away' from this point which makes it even more invisible. It's positioned close to the blade spine when closed which means it will sit perfectly on the rhs of your right hand pocket.
Only thing missing from this knife is a thumb stud, but I have one on its way.
Overall can't fault this knife at all, it's lovely to handle and to look at.

Wish I'd got this one a long time ago!

Posted by Simon on 23rd Aug 2020

This one has been on my HH wishlist for a while and I'm so glad I got it. This truly is a great knife for the money. Many love the design of the Luna, it's not just a titanium slab, the contours make this something a bit different. The N690 steel may not be perfect for some, but I find it fine for everyday use, it holds a great edge too. For what you get for your money, and also when I got mine, the price had gone down by £9, you can't go wrong, such a great knife. I'd recommend this to anyone, a great addition to your EDC rotation.
Great next day HH service as always, cheers.

    Very modern looking

Posted by Gareth on 20th Aug 2020

What a lovely piece of engineering!
Absolutely no issues with the one I received (in superfast time!) and as I bought a thumb stud I fiddled quite a bit before putting it on display.
On full 'open', the spring feels a little too weak for my general use but as long as you're using the knife appropriately it shouldn't be a problem.
I'd certainly recommend this as EDC.

    Great EDC knife

Posted by Ian on 4th Aug 2020

I bought this after getting the Heinnie version, as this one is in titanium and looks good.

Some have commented on the blade long nail nick, and the possibility that it should have a thumb stud like the Hinderer. I'm not sure if that was ever intended, but I have added a KWIK-Stud to both of mine which does make them easily one handed opening and even easier for two handed opening.

The KWIK Studs are available here on Heinnie although often on back-order (so I can't be the only one who likes them!)

As for the knife itself, it is comfortable, practical and as others have said, very, VERY sharp.

1 big flaw 1 tiny nitpick

Posted by Howard on 15th Jun 2020

Lovely knife, good action, fairly ergonomic - the big flaw is that it's clearly designed to have a thumbstud like the Hinderer slippy. The scales contour down to help your thumb access it and everything! But there is no thumbstud!??! What happened Real Steel, you lose the bag of thumbstuds?

The tiny nitpick is that they've etched a skull onto the back of the blade. I'm not 14, I don't want skulls on my stuff any more.

Fix those two and I could love it, instead of merely liking it.

    Good knife, nonexistent manufacturer support

Posted by Craig on 14th May 2020

I'll start off with the knife itself which Poltergeist did an excellent job designing its good looking and slicey. It became my favorite EDC and if it wasn't for the rest of the review I would be buying the carbon fiber version as well.

However the pocket clip got caught while in my pocket and rather than just coming out of my pocket it snapped, on the manufacturers website it states small part replacement is free from the authorised distributors to whom they've not given the parts to send out. This was not too bad as it also states that they will send parts out for a small shipping fee. However they have not replied to my requests (submitted by the online form and the service email) so I am stuck with a knife I can't use as intended. If they do get back to me eventually I will update the review but just on manufacturer support I can't recommend that anyone buy one at the moment.

    Perfect edc

Posted by Rachael on 2nd Apr 2020

I was lucky enough to grab one of these little beauties when they came back in stock and it has met all my expectations what a fantastic knife ,so sorry Heinnie but you will have to get something exceptional in to beat this knife especially at this price, I am one happy bunny and can see this being my edc for the foreseeable future and even in these troubled times Heinnie still have their excellent customer service and delivery.

Great knife but one slight flaw !!

Posted by Jason on 1st Apr 2020

Received the knife today and expected great things from it. Nice packaging and initial impression good. Blade centred and good edge for a factory one. Grinds nice and even and titanium grip nicely done . No sharp edges so all looking ok. That was until I noticed the elongated nail nick is slightly different on each side. It looks like one side has been machined deeper than the other. Not a massive problem but not great on an otherwise quality item.

Heinnies delivery as unbeatable as usual. Ordered Friday afternoon, delivered Saturday morning!!!

    amazing UK EDC

    Posted by J on 14th Jan 2020

Extremely brilliant service as always from HH, This knife is an amazing sleek slip joint that has a very modern look, the spring strength on this is just right in my opinion pulling abit lower than a victorinox pioneer, the quarter stops stops the chance of it closing on your fingers alongside the gimping on the bottom it grips nicely for secure fit, ive fitted this knife with a thumb stud to allow for one handed opening making this a perfect EDC, I would Highly recommend.
