A revolution in slip-joint construction! The Kizer Vagnino Zipslip G10. Custom knife makers Michael Vagnino and Tom Ferry have collaborated on a brand new knife mechanism called the "Ever Flush Spring" concept. The design includes a slit in the backbar creating the spring and upper tang stop meaning the backbar stays in place during opening and closing. Open the blade and watch the back bar stay in place and motionless.

Kizer have now produced this superb UK legal carry knife with G10 handle scales in a choice of colours and an N690 stainless steel blade.

Build quality is superb, blade was very sharp out of the box and this is one of the most comfortable to hold knives I own. Easy to open and close one handed, great knife for daily carry/use.

    Acceptable

Nice looking knife. It seems to have been manufactured with care, with edges nicely flush and rounded. The position of the thumb hole on the blade suggests it might be designed for one handed opening, but I haven't managed to do that in a way that feels safe yet; maybe it's still too stiff. Unfortunately straight out of the box it was quite blunt. My every day kitchen knife which I haven't sharpened for a couple of weeks is still sharper than this. I thought maybe I'd been sent a returned one but I didn't see any other obvious signs of wear. Maybe this manufacturer just doesn't bother to sharpen well at the factory? Either way, at this price point it was a bit of an unboxing disappointment. After I sharpen it, it'll be fine I suppose.

    Good product

Bought this for a work knife. I have cut loads of electrical cables scrapping old equipment and the blade just needed a slight sharpen after task. It was not razer sharp but ok from new. The knife is not a great knife for cutting fruit as it is quite a thick blade. The knife is heavy enough to stay in your pocket when clipped on pocket. Good knife for the price.

    Great little knife

Posted by Jon M on 26th Aug 2020

Ordered mine last week when I saw them back in stock, had been going to order blue or orange, but in the end went with black, as most of the ones I've seen are blue. Packaging is great, paperwork, cleaning cloth etc, almost Boker quality. The knife itself was smaller than I expected it to be, I'm guessing that the YouTube reviewers must have pretty tiny hands. It's a nice fit in the hand though, and the quality and fit and finish of materials is great, and the blade grind/centering spot on. The spring wasn't as weak as I'd expected either, it's still weak, but not as insipid as I'd been led to believe it was going to be, and with an index finger in either of the choils you will be safe enough. The one hand deployment is tricky, bit once you've fiddled with it then there is a knack to it, and it becomes second nature. The non-90 degree half stop may not be to everyones taste, but I don't mind it at all. This fits somewhere between a traditional slipjoint in so far as not looking as threatening as say a Spyderco UKPK, but still has the one hand opening and choil-safety feature of that style of knife. Overall, very pleased, will rotate this with my UKPK and Pioneer X Alox

    Quality Knife

Posted by Byrdie on 2nd Aug 2020

Having spent the best part of my life carrying cheaper knives usually in the £10-£20 range this was certainly a step up, and the difference in quality is apparent. The overall feel of the knife in hand is really nice and it feel substantial and secure without being too heavy. Really sharp out of the box and no play in the blade. The pocket clip is perfect, nice and tight and doesn’t allow the knife to be seen when clipped into a jean pocket. The two things I would change - 1) The packaging. The knife comes in a nice looking cardboard box with instructions/warranty and a cleaning cloth, but the knife itself is in a cheap moulded plastic tray almost like you would expect to find in a tin of biscuits At Christmas. 2) The handle. The back of the handle is quite sharp - not like the blade, but square rather than chamfered meaning if opening and closing this knife regularly you may well get a sore area on your hand. For me this is at the base of my little finger. Two minor gripes on what is otherwise a really quality product.
