Helikon-Tex Level 7 Winter Jacket with Climashield Apex insulation and Nylon ripstop outer layer.

The Level 7 (LVL 7) is a fully insulated outer layer. Hydrophobic properties of Climashield Apex keep user warm and dry in extreme cold weather conditions. If exposed to moisture, textile dries immediately. Nylon outer layer provides durability, secures insulation material and provides crucial wind and water resistance without blocking the breathability. Helmet-compatible hood can be easily adjusted by drawstrings hidden in chest pockets. High, soft fleece lined collar keeps vital body parts warmed. Two chest pockets are lined with fleece to provide protection against frostbite. LVL 7 is highly compressible – can be stuffed in a pack or cargo pouch, without any damage to its properties.

This isn't a cheap jacket, but you get what you pay for. It's incredibly light, but the Climashield insulation, keeps you warm and does an excellent job of keeping the wind out. I've tested it in a heavy shower and most of the water ran off, but it may struggle to cope in a prolonged downpour. Highly recommended and the usual exemplary service from HH.

The Right Choice

I've been looking for a new winter jacket since December,when shall we say my previous jacket and a lot more of my kit was misappropriated by some light fingered person or persons. Having to replace so many items over a short period meant that not only did I have to find the right jacket, it had to be at the right price too. There are so many good quality jackets on the market these days that I felt I needed some expert advice and I knew just where to get it! I rang HH and asked to speak to Richard,who is the man I go to for all things survival or bush craft related because he uses the equipment himself! I told him I needed a top layer that was both warm and waterproof that would stand up to cold,rough coastal weather,so we ended up discussing the merits of this great jacket from Helikon Tex and both decided it was the right choice for me. I ordered it and other items at 2.40am on Thursday afternoon and it was in my hands the following morning by 10.00am. If that's not first class service I don't know what is! I wore the jacket at the coast yesterday,standing on the headland watching the comings and goings of the boats for over 2 hours. Other people came and went in very short order because despite the sun being out it was bitterly cold. Not that it bothered me in my nice new jacket .Pulled snug with the wrist tapes pulled tight I could have sat their all day. This jacket was the perfect choice and I look forward to wearing it for years to come on all my outdoor adventures.So thank you as always Richard and thanks to HH for the lightning quick delivery!

I had been mulling which winter jacket to get for some time. I looked at as many reviews of winter jackets as i could, and almost all i saw were of jackets that did not really tick the boxes for me. Until I saw the Helikon Level 7 Jacket. I thoroughly researched it and decided this was the jacket for me. I have been wearing it for about 2 weeks now and I cannot fault it in any way. It looks good, feels good and performs exactly as described. It was well worth the investment for me. I absolutely love it.
