The ESEE Gibson Axe is made in the U.S.A. and designed by James Gibson, lead instructor for Randall’s Adventure & Training Bushcraft School. He has a passion and love for the outdoors and has studied and practiced bushcraft skills most of his life.
As a small, compact axe that will easily fit in a backpack the Gibson is hard to beat. His stated goal was a comfortable using tool that could do most camp chores, as well as being used as a carving axe. The Viking bearded head allows for close up work and the finger grooves / textured scales along with the swell on the end provides an excellent gripping surface when chopping. The 1095 high carbon steel frame is about as indestructible as you can get for an axe of this size.

It's incredibly well balanced, the thought that has gone into the design is just evident from holding it. The micarta handle is like a moulded extension of the hand. Great stonewashed finish on the metal. Top marks.
Been waiting over a year for this to come out! ! Dam was it worth the wait! Fantastic fit and finish! Grip is unbelievably comfortable! Razor sharp out the box! Plenty of heft to it but not over heavy! Really decent factory sheath which makes a nice change! Worth every penny! Over the moon with this hatchet!
