If the angle at the apex is too 'large' there's no way it'll get between hair follicles, also, human hair varies, so - standardise your hairs ! ?. Highly polished edge is essential for the push cut, very much prolongs the life of the edge, Morakniv 12C27 is superb done with this stuff.
The dmt paste and knivegg double sided strop combination works very well. I reprofiled a spyderco native 5 in S30V on the KME then worked through the grits, 6, 3 then 1 micron diamond compound. Soft side to polish the Bevel and the firm side to refine the edge. The end result was a very sharp knife with a mirror polished bevel. If like me you own a kme sharpener or any other sharpening system, a solution to take your edge to the next level is available at HH. A solution that works for me.
