Brand Of The Month: Benchmade Knives

Brand Of The Month: Benchmade Knives

27th Apr 2021

At Heinnie Haynes, we are continuously astounded by our fantastic range of survival brands we stock for our UK enthusiasts. But we thought, why not emphasise this and choose a worthy brand that we want to shout about?

Amidst these times, it is more important than ever to credit brands and businesses that have innovated industries. And here we welcome, Benchmade Knives.

The Story Behind Benchmade

Originating in 1979, (Originally Pacific Cutlery Corp) Benchmade is a USA born brand that rivals a rich history.

Over 30 years ago, Les de Asis began his venture within a small rented shop in California, where all of his ideas, creations and aspirations with knives began. In fact, all of the original equipment was purchased from the owner of a manufacturing operation who was looking to retire. Resulting is Les utilising the technology available to him at the time, with a limited budget and only himself throughout the process.

However, even with the difficulties of bankruptcy the company faced in 1988, they continued to persevere and success regained. The major turning point of the company started, as they relocated to the knife manufacturing epicentre of Clackamas, Oregon and their brand changed from Pacific Cutlery Corp, to Benchmade.

As the success with the industry continued, Benchmade are now located in Oregon City, with a space that can cater to the continuous growth of customer demand, and still to this day the brand still continues to “focus on innovation, customer needs, responsible business ethics and operations to bring the highest quality products to the world’s elite.”

Now, Les de Asis' son, Roberta is the CEO of the company, where he continues to incorporate the values his father instilled over 30 years ago.

Specialities

Benchmade are unique to the industry, as they work with custom designers to create their innovative functional designs, including a range of world-class custom knives designers. This opportunity has enabled them to access the newest locking mechanisms, materials and techniques that no other competitor can rival.

Throughout the years the brand has continued to expand their product offering into fixed blade and conventional folding knives, alongside their trusted knives and tactical pens that cater for professionals, all the way to enthusiasts who use their products for basic, daily tasks.

Benchmade are an especially fantastic choice for UK audiences too, as they have their range of high quality UK friendly carry options, ranging from their 381 Aller Fume, to the 319 Proper Micarta.

Why Benchmade?

Benchmade is a business that has been created through inspiration and determination alone, with their original values, still at the heart of their worldwide famous brand.

Their range of products ensures that you can find a specific knife or tool to cater your lifestyle, no matter how experienced you are as an adventure enthusiast, making them a fantastic option for budding knife collectors who want to begin the process with a product that will be of a high quality, from a brand they can trust.

In 1979, Les de Asis set his visions on what he wanted to provide for the industry and he achieved even more than this, even with the barriers he faced along the way. And for that reason, we couldn't help but not choose them as our brand of the month.

At Heinnie Haynes, we are more than honoured to be a UK stockist of this brand, and to be able to provide their exceptional products easily to British based enthusiasts.
