Description

H-1 does something no other blade steel can, It remains 100% rust free and it actually holds a sharp cutting edge.

Spyderco’s Salt Series offers a collection of H-1 folders and fixed blades including this, the Spyderco Ladybug 3 Salt.

This knife is nearly as small as your car keys and carries just as easily. Its lightweight FRN (fiberglass reinforced nylon) handle is coated with Bi-Directional Texturing for slip-resistant cutting.

It comes in stand-out Marine Yellow and easy to spot if dropped in water or on the ground. The H-1 hollow ground blade is available in a SpyderEdge or PlainEdge configuration.

The LYL is clip-less with a lanyard hole to string a keychain or lanyard through. Whether light or heavy cutting, the Ladybug Salt is a compact firecracker with explosive cutting ability in a small package that will never rust.

    Now my Thrid:: Ladybug #3!

Posted by The Photographer on 21st Apr 2025

Like one of the other reviewers, this is also my third Spyderco Ladybug! The knife is small enough to live on your keyring, but large enough to handle most applications as an EDC. The bright yellow handle provides good grip and is a fine fit in medium/large hands. The “thumb hole” blade is not really a thumb hold but is of an assist in opening the knife with ease, I find it with keys attached easier to hold the blade and let the weight of my keys pull the handle from the blade to open one handed. The blade is very sharp, with the serrations allowing cutting of cord, rope or webbing with ease. Having a very early version I can see the evolution of the Ladybug, and it just keeps getting better!

    Biggest isn't always best.

I wanted a Dragonfly in salt (unavailable)as this is largely for food preparation while hiking. I ended up with the Ladybug after seeing it on you tube. When it arrived I was shocked by just how small it is.HOWEVER-it's fantastic. It will do just about anything a craft knife will, and it weighs next to nothing.Very good to grip and performs really well. It really is key ring size, but still does what you need it to do.H1 is tough and should withstand food acids/washing etc. If you back pack light this thing opens packets and slices food just fine.

    Small but useful.

Very small knife. First impression was an overpriced novelty. Closer look and use found it to be a practical little blade. Cuts well, lock seems sturdy enough and overall the knife is very useful. Ideal on a lanyard. Excellent service again from Heinnie.

Great service, next day delivery and fantastic little knife. It's small, much smaller than pictured in my mind but solid, and an absolute must have! Buy one

Lovely little knife. Was a Bit small but added a Mcgizmo titanium clip to key ring to extend length of handle. Really sharp. Very discrete to carry. Love it.

    Deadly!

Posted by Paul on 21st Nov 2014

Ian"s review has it covered . If you have big hands a little lanyard helps. Utterly deadly in the wrong hands. This knife punches way above it's size and weight. What a blade! Would be a definitive EDC if it were legal .A stone cold classic. Usual, almost telepathic, service from HH.

    How small is that?!

Posted by Martin Atton on 28th Apr 2011

My mates wife bought this on my recommendation to take sailing with her husband, suspended from a lanyard around her neck. She wants to be able to cut rope quickly in the event of an accident. The knife seems to foot the bill perfectly. I didn't realize just how SMALL it was. Would have scored five, but £35 for something as dinky as this seems a bit steep! Great knife though.
